Due to unfortunate circumstances, I have been out of R6 for some time. I was hit by a 17-ton bus, then had a stroke and came down with Parkinson's Disease (got a Cherry Brown mechanical keyboard). Oh, and the pin fell out of my grenade, clipped to my harness. Also lost a string of PC's to bad luck failures. I have been retraining body and brain with LEFT 4 DEAD 2 for a while and just blew a pile jof cash on a very nice PC. Best I have had since my Amiga 1200. It is due to arrive in about a month. It is wery wery nice and I have decent internet service. Planniing to get a 1440 monitor @ 144 MHz. Hoping to get back into gaming with SAS, I miss not missing Col. RANDOM (Ret.) with my accidental discharges. Using a 7.1 headset.
I would like to pick up games I need during the end of year sales. What DLC do I need for ARMA III? What is most sensible way to approach the new, more complicated, Rainbow game SIEGE purchase? Do I need all those operators? What about INSURGENCY is it the Modern Inf. Combat one?
Still see some ot the SAS crowd on STEAM, like Malty.JD, WIZ. There's nobody like SAS around....but then you all know that. Nice to be back. Now I have a lot of reading to catch up on. <salute>
Hey cougar, don't think we've met but its nice to see people returning from the swat days.
Regarding arma, if you don't want advertisement popping up on your screen or be limited regarding weaponry you can take, I, suggest you buy them all and now with black friday is the best time to do so. You only really need the apex dlc if you're short on cash or don't really want to buy all of them. (Also the modset)
About siege ubisoft took the rainbow six series in another direction and now resembles something in the likes COD, i don't suggest buying it but if you were the only thing you get tactical out of it are private coop sessions with friends. If you want diversity i suggest purchasing a year pack from the ubisoft store but its not really required.
Regarding insurgency, we've been playing insurgency sandstorm which is the new one that is still in beta. The game is turning out nice and is what mostly resembles ravenshield tho somewhat more casual. On public servers you will mostly find, in the words of one of my friends, cannon fodder. Inexperienced players that will mostly just run in there and get shot and killed, or you might get lucky and find seasoned players that actually know what they are doing.
I hope I was able to answer most of your questions and wish to see you on the servers
My regards,

Hiya Cougar, always good to see older members drop by. I think Luis pretty well touched base on all of your questions. My two cents:
ARMA and the DLCs go on sale all the time, so you can always pick up something you need later. I do recommend also getting at least Tanoa when you pick up the base game.
R6S is not like the Rainbow Six of old. Coop would be great if it had actual doors nad wasn't limited to 4 people.
Insurgency is still somewhat run and gun, it can be done more tactically than COD, but it is neither SWAT nor R6. Still some good fun though.
Looking forward to seeing you around, do make sure to take a look here to get started with our modset when you do pick up ARMA.

Luis and Fluffy. Thank you for your help with selecting games to purchase. I left a couple for DEC after my new PC kicks in the door and tosses a flashbang. Most of them will not run on my current desktop or laptop. Everything, literally, will run on the new one. Was a real pleasure, for first time, to not have to look as Sys. Req. on any game. Looking forward to feeling your hand on my shoulder as we line up along a wall. This will be the longest month of my life, I suspect.
Lots OF L4D2, CS and original R6 this month, I predict.
