Is this the SAS clan that used to do the four way entry, hostage rescues and what not, a load of years ago. I recognise Carters name, (who wasn't a member at the time I played). And there was a Sgt.Sniper unless my memory is playing tricks.
If so. Hi, it's good to see you're still knocking down doors.
If not. Hello anyway.
If on RVS then I believe so! Welcome to the forums by the way and enjoy your stay if you're staying!

Well in that case. It's nice to meet you's again! Some of my fondest gaming memories are of stacking on doors with you guys.
Out of respect, I debadged and played on your server as Snake. But other than that, I had been playing as Col.Paddy, Catfish, (sbs reference) and JohnnyWalker. Although Johnny might have snuck in for a few games here and there.
Anyway, I bought the steam version of rvs a few hours ago and you's popped up on a google search shortly thereafter, so I thought I'd stick my nose in and say hello.
I can see me doing a few maps, but in truth I mainly bought the steam version, because I'm half tempted to write a guide for it. Not that guide writing in general is of much interest to me lol. But for rvs, I might make an exception.
Cheers for the welcome.
Hello there Black.
Sniper was sgt during your time here? Wow, that's way before my time haha!
Nice to make your acquaintance, I'm a SWAT 4 man personally, but I was introduced to the tactical ways of [SAS] through RVS.

Hey there,
Aye, 2008 it seems. I dug around in my email to find out when it would have been. I'd sent him a couple of parachute regiment arm patches for rvs.
Mikey,
Hows it going bud?

Hey Sniper,
Aye, doing okay, keeping the head down as always. But thought I'd be worth sticking it up for a few seconds and say hello when you's popped up on my radar.
It's good to see your still playing Raven Shield, you'd think the game companies would take note and make a few more proper games.
Since downloading rvs on steam, I haven't been able to connect to any server, (using the patch). And it turns out one of your guys, may be able to help.
It turns out that, MM18, posted the exact same problem I've been having, in the steam forums, last September. So I wonder if he remembers how he got it sorted.

Hey there, Captain Black.
If I understand your situation correctly, then the following explanation is in order:
Ubisoft pulled official support for Raven Shield around the end of last year, meaning that the vanilla installation of the game won't let you log in with your Ubisoft account, show a list of all the internet servers that are currently being hosted (even though they're technically there, and can be accessed through Join IP), or validate your CD Key. This is where OpenRvS comes in for the save.
OpenRvS is a modification by Twi and others that replaces said server list in the game with a custom one managed by them. It also forgoes the need to log in and use a CD Key. You can obtain the latest version of the patch here (v1.0 as of the date of this post). Follow the instructions in the readme inside of the patch folder, and you should be good to go. I haven't personally upgraded to the latest version yet, so if any issues arise, feel free to contact me.
Our server is a bit trickier to get into than that due to some firewall issues that are currently beyond our control, but it is online and can be joined by typing open game.sasclan.org:8888 in the game's console.
I hope we can get a chance to bust some tangos together soon
Thanks for that MM18,
Ubi seems to have removed the need for key verification altogether, as it works with and without, I discovered.
Your console link worked more than perfectly if anything. I was able to access the server without using the patched file that had been causing problems, (R6ClassDefines.ini). The rest of the files from the patch were in my system, so idk if they had an effect or not.
It also worked with that file installed and before posting this, I decided just for laughs to restart the game to see if the other servers would work. To my surprise they now do? Now I can't say for sure whether they 'somehow' would have anyway, but I hadn't changed anything since the last time they didn't so it's anyones guess but I find it doubtful.
I may get on for a game at some point, but apparently I need a bit of practice, as I'm even crapper than I was before. (I wasn't too bad tbf). The bit of practice I have had, has been enjoyable enough though, and I don't mind getting killed, so it's a possibility.
As a wise man once said. "Practice makes you slightly less shit".
