We have an IRC Channel?
First I've heard of it.
Who mentioned IRCWhat is IRC?Whats the IP Noah?
Lt_Col WIZ, VC, MiD (Ret)
Noahs sig has:I Idle on: vent.n0ah.com And in: #sasclan.org on GameSurge.net
#sasclan.org sounds like a channel on an Internet Relay Chat server, GameSurge.net sounds like such a server.
I am registored on Freenode, common vister to #pcbsd
yeah I have OPS on #SASClan.org on irc.gamesurge.net
and as soon as the request goes through will have a registered ChanServ
Played the new patch last night. The air droped vehicle is great! Game runs smoother also.Someone explain IRC! Do you need a program?
SAS_VET_Centurion. And that is my $.02 Cdn. worth!!! Just because I am 51, does not mean I am old!
Yeah, theres lots of IRC Clients, mIRC I think is pretty popular for Windows.
I use X-Chat myself.
Mozilla/SeaMonkey has Chatzilla.
Opera (Web Browser) has it's own IRC (as well as e-mail client)___http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_IRC_clients
You connect to a server then you type /join #channelname and join the channel. Commands are /command arguments
I guess I'll start idling again. I believe that an old clan leader of mine has his channel there. Don't think he'll be too happy to see me though. I didn't exactly leave on good terms IIRC.
if IRC is what i think it is, then we have TS as our official VOIP program, i have Ventrilo installed too, but only so i can stalk Noah wherever he goes.
*Thanks for splitting the topc:) *
Think of IRC has a lot of chat rooms hosted on a server Wiz:)
When it doubt, look it up or Read The Fine Manual.
You might be interested to know the handle used by the inventor of IRC lol.
Sounds like TS to me
Yeah if you have a keyboard that types for you when you talk in the mic:P
Sounds like Ts to me
Basically its a small chatrooms run on one big server. Except that you have the:
Ban Happy OperatorsBan Happy Sys-Admins1337 h4xx0rzzzzzz (aka script kiddies)Real hackers and crackjersIdiotsIntelligent peopleHardcore gamers
ooh Sounds like a fun place i have no desire to visit.
Yeah, think I'll stick to freenode.
back in the day before AIM MSN YAHOO and ICQ there was IRC(Internet Relay Chat) Not the orignial but definatly the best chat network ever developed. Still in use by hundreds of thousands if not millions of users today.
and yes spidey X-Chat is the the superior client
I am a little confused here. What exactly is the role of IRC with gaming, BF2 in this case? The purpose?
Think of it as a chat room for the game, or something like WON in SWAT3.
Havn't seen what it has to do /w BF2 yet though I'm still on the last patched version.
Yes I rarly play the dang thing now that I got my sniper unlocks:P
why would u want to chat?
a game is for playing
I think its like UBI.com (more stable) that allows you to discuss tactics before going into a mission, loading a game up. You can chat, share files and its dam old.
I Thought the lobby chat was banned from there networks, or was it just the RvS lobbies?
dunno, never used it
