I used SR Stop with Daemon Tools for over 8 years now. SR stop hides emulated drives in a way they can be recognized as legitimate. This way cracks are not necessary for a disc-free play. - http://www.dvhardware.net/software/3464
Just fyi, the .exe file replaced the original game executable. When I opened the .exe (under the assumption I was launching the game), it disappeared and the new process appeared. It wasn't an installer .exe (or at least I wasn't intentionally installing anything).
Anyways, after some looking around I noticed in the properties menu of the process, that the Hidden attribute box was checked and grayed out. After a little googling I managed to get it unchecked and found a file called WindowsUpdate.exe with the same icon as the process and a folder called msnmsgr, in my AppData\Roaming folder. Deleted both and did a scan with Malwarebytes, no surprises here...
Hopefully this solves it... thanks a bunch for your help Maven!

That was definitely a virus. Good thing you removed the registry entries with Malware Bytes. I also suggest you get HijackThis and find any references to its files, if you find any remove them via HijackThis (Though be extra careful as HijackThis reports valid files too) on top of that, it's a good practice to shred free space with CCleaner (not erase disks data, but backup tapes/storages which are used once you delete something) just to make sure the virus files and registry entries are unrecoverable via special tools (that this infection may have installed/used)
And that's basically it. I'm glad I helped, and I'm glad you both removed this infection and learned something important as well
Actually this same issue appeared several times for past years, I never knew how to fix it.
Namely, for a period of time (randomly) the mouse affected would sometimes misfire and instead of clicking once (per analog click) it would click twice digitally. The effect is on left mouse button, it occurs only sometimes but just enough to get annoying (Ie when I design something a double click can mess things up or a file can be opened but I didn't doubleclick etc)
I did open up the mouse currently affected (Optical A4tech, don't know which model) and clean it from dust and debris, the problem got even worse, as if that the mouse is too sensitive. The issue disappears over period of time, usually after a month or two.
Anyone else got this problem before? Do you know a fix?
Thanks for the tip Wiz. I just cleaned it with a compressed air can again, the issue is still present. Could it be that the left mouse button became overly sensitive from too much use (Over a year now)?
It's possible the mouse is faulty or needs replacement, in which case I will just go and buy one.
A cheap mouse is ok for working, but not gaming. My tip: buy Logitech. Their devices never break. And in the rare case that they do, the warrenty is just awesome
All mouse buttons have springs to facilitate the 'bounce'. If you want to trick around, swap the 2 springs.
I will agree with Raptor though, I'm running a Logitech G5, Its old and has required the odd screwdriver attack....but it runs; they arent cheap, but they do work.
For my laptop, i do have a very cheap mouse in the case, just because i dont like the touchpad control.
As the saying goes... Horses for Courses.
BTW it was on my 2nd test system, I don't use it for gaming or any heavy tasks at all, but for testing my apps/games and designs, sometimes I design stuff on it too if its for mobile usage, so the mouse quality wasn't important at all as long it's remote and optical.
I agree about Logitech. They make great gaming gear (Specially headphones) I too had a mouse by Logitech (can't remember the model, hardware and me are two very distant subjects) several years ago, it ended up torn apart by my nieces when they played Insaniquarium
Anyway, thanks for all your tips and tricks, sure came handy.
Anyone know how to change what the 'tilda' key(the ` or ~ key to the left of '1') is for uk/us keyboard layouts? I'm trying both of them on this new install of Windows 7, but I can't access the console in SWAT 4.

1. Install both UK and US layouts on your Windows. These are hidden somewhere in your control panel language settings. You can then easy-switch between UK/US layouts with a key combination. I personally use this for US English and Russian.
2. You can change the key for console in input in SWAT 4 System folder. I can't remember the exact file but it is with the binds. You can check my S4 tweaking guide for full details.
3. You can change this with Windows charmapper tools. Although these come with Pro versions of Windows only, and are usually not installed by default. Be careful though, a wrong key input in these can lead to all sorts of problems.
P.S. the .ini file with the keys in S4 has keys registered according to their character code not actual key names. So ~ is probably not ~ but a number.
P.S.2 The tilde key wiki page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilde
It's probably just Windows installing wrong drivers for your keyboard. Or your keyboard has a different I/O.
Windows tends to do that stuff, no wonder though, it's a bloatware lol
Check if the installed driver for your keyboard matches your keyboards type/brand. It's probably the best idea to DL and install a valid driver from manufacturer than use the Windows default drivers.
You mention that XP didn't cause these problems, so incompatible drivers is my 1st guess. If this isn't the case however and you tried all 3 methods I described before but your keyboard is fully functional, then it's Windows. In that case only thing you can do is switch to Mac, Linux or reverse to XP
Somehow, when I turn my monitor off or on, my computer boots up. This is very handy when both the monitor and computer is turned off, but if I turn off the computer before the monitor, my monitor is freezing/locked until the computer has turned off and then I can turn off the monitor.... which starts the computer again *DASH*.
Sorry DC, but I have no idea. Sounds like it is supposed to be some kind of "feature", try looking in your monitor setting, both on PC and on the TV. Also take a look at Power Settings in Control Panel. Other than than I haven't the faintest clue, perhaps another could shed some light?

Still waiting for Win 10 update to be available for my specific PC. I know i can go straight to the site but am gonna wait for my version to be ready. Don't know if i need a virtual assistant. My gf reminds all the time i need to do things..lol
ahah.. So you have your own assistant, and a better one
Yeah in a way. Although i don't think Cortana would come down the stairs and tell me to keep the noise down when i am playing late at night with a few beers..lol
Yes, I got W10. I really like it, though I can't run INS from Steam, I have to use the Insurgency.exe file. Regarding Cortana it isn't available in Denmark just yet.
Does anybody now a fix to my problem: all the sound going through my mic is the sound from my pc (I can, for example, put on a song and when I turn the mic on, it plays that song). Yes, "stereo mix" is not on.
EDIT: Plugging multiple cables in and out for 10 times fixed it for some reason.
PowerISO is a rather nice program for emulating drives

I got a weird issue with one of my mice.

Normally i tweak my mice using software to adjust the DPI, but occasionaly i get lag, which is due to hairs affecting the laser...blow them out
Apart from that, i would say that your mouse is faulty.

Yeah, when it comes to simple peripherals such as a mouse, the problem usually is mechanical. Otherwise, it may be a poorly designed or faulty driver.
A program interfering with the communication between the driver and the peripheral is also plausible, though more uncommon.
So, the most reliable solution is to replace the mouse. I've got a cheap, laser one and it serves me just well.
A cheap mouse is ok for working, but not gaming. My tip: buy Logitech. Their devices never break. And in the rare case that they do, the warrenty is just awesome
Sounds to me like the spring gave up

I tried searching the user.ini for the 'console' key as a workaround, but no dice.
