What do you think about a world map on the site and we can input our locations. I saw it on another site, and it looked pretty cool. Use Google earth or something like that. It would be cool to see where everyone is instead of the location that is on their profile.
Just a thought. :ninja:

SAS_VET_Centurion. And that is my $.02 Cdn. worth!!! Just because I am 51, does not mean I am old!
Good idea Cent, I like it.
Excelent idea. Sounds great.
Sounds cool, but I don't see it's relevency sorry.
Wouldn't mind seeing it though, but the number of people we have in the US, CAN, and UK might scare a few others:P
I quite like the look of this

Thats a hit-counter though rel, not a member locator.
but u could easily make a page with tags on that link to a members profile.

I know what it is and I like it.

yeah that looks quite nice.
Great Idea Centurion...
I would like to see something like what Leon put up.. except when you pass your mouse over the red dot.. it brings up a sub windown or pop-up window that displays the players National Flag and personal Info.
Just thought that would look neat.

ok guys, i dont know if any of you have started on this. I have
The original map i have is the very same one that Leon posted. Now the dilemma, without making it stupidly huge resolution it gets rather cluttered in certain places. This is due to our southern-hemisphere members. So i have come up with 2 ideas that i would appreciate your views on.
1/ we have the full world map with stars in the locations for each member, each star would be linked to the correct persons sasclan.org profile.
or
2/ the map is cut into smaller sections (less cluttered), then if you goto that persons profile we have a 'map' tab that pulls up a picture of where they live. Maybe the tab could be added to the mighty page aswell.

How about a world map which splits up into smaller setions.
Also how are we to update this map. Will it be a case of everytime someone joins, or should we say do it every 6 months.
Good luck you guys.

Well on the full map we have a problem in height, for the US guys thanks to Moe being all the way down there in Beunos Aires
And also in width for the Euro guys due to Jakub all the way over there in Sydney Australia. Assuming there we split it into 2.

If you don't put Veterans on the map that would eliminate those two. Otherwise, have a section that shows north america, a section showing Europe, and small sections showing Aus and Argentina.
I'd say just stick a map on each persons profile with there approx locations on the map.
Or
One huge map that is it's own page (accesible via a button on the Mighty page) that will show everyone on one global sized map.
well done spidey for identifying the 2 options i posted

Yes I posted them in order of my preference, ether way it's mostly the same to me:)[/quote]
I think it is a nice idea. My only concern is does it become to much to keep up with for current and future webmasters, who as I understand, volunteer good time and effort to maintain the site. Additional content requires additional maintenance and updating.
