Sigh...now RVS is giving me trouble.

When I start up Ravenshield, it sometimes gives me a 'critical error' message. It has started to happen more frequently now, but when I successfully start up I get this specific one, right after the loading screen for the MP map:

OS: Windows NT 6.1 (Build: 7601)
CPU: GenuineIntel Unknown processor @ 3003 MHz with 2046MB RAM
Video: Radeon X1300/X1550 Series (647)

Failed changing screen resolution.

History: RecreateDevice

I've searched on the internet but can't seem to find the process for fixing this. I've reinstalled and that fixed it yesterday, but I'm looking for something more permanent.

I'd be grateful for any help provided,

Thanks,
-Yogibear

Did you try running the game in as an admin?
I find that significantly reduced my error crash rate. Smile

I think I found the problem.

Ironically, I found a thread on THIS forum about it.

I have xfire running before I start up RVS. When I turn xfire off, RVS works like a charm...I kind of want to know how to fix this thing though.

I am the administrator, and the only one to use this computer btw.

When I turn xfire off, RVS works like a charm...

Cheers.

Yogi, I got the same problem. How I fixed it? Simple, desactivate the option of xfire in-game. To do that, tools - options in ur xfire and go to Xfire in-game. Uncheck the enable xfire in-game box.

It's an omen...saying you should convert to THE DARK SIDE...haha kidding.

What I did, was go to Options in Xfire, click the Games tab, select Raven Shield from the list on the left side, then check Disable Xfire In-Game. No need to disable Xfire In-Game altogether as Raven Shield is the only game I've had problems with when running alongside XIG (at least personally).

Yah, Xfire did some update and after that RvS was toast. They never bothered to fix it. Trying out the two Xfire in game suggestions, thx.
