Well Baroness if he is old enough for the blood & gore with a scare the crap out of you Horror-Sci-Fi experience of the game, you might try buying him F.E.A.R. You can wield Double Pistols once you find a 2nd one.
I do warn you though, many Delta Force operators get quite blood cloud-puff'ingly dead in F.E.A.R.'s Single Player -- I've never tried the Multi-Player but it shouldn't be as mature content. And the Multi-player part is a free download I hear.
I've seen such things for years.... Terminator, Aliens, e.t.c. were movies I watched as a little boy lol (having an older brother is good for some thing!!!). -> I don't know about the Multi player but I'd say FEAR Single Player is more for the 17-18+ range.
Online it is probably a lot more docile but you would probably still want to play it yourselves before letting him try if he's to young for Single Player (which you only get if you buy the full game).
OMG that one almsot killed me! Very funny !

Rooms "painted" with blood is definitely nothing for younger players
In Germany, F.E.A.R. has the highest adult-rating...

You know, if you want a great game for dual wielding, get one of the Halo's. Halo 1 and 2 are out for PC right now, but 3 is only on XBox for now.
