Problem with SWAT connection

Hey all.

I have faced a really strange problem about a week ago. I played SWAT online and then when new map was loading my connection got timed out. Then when i came back to server list there were no servers there so i restarted game. There were still no servers in server list. Then i tried to connect with direct ip..connection got timed out. B: I restarted game, pc many times... i downloaded like 5 patches, reinstalled game... still nothing worked B: B:

After i got completely mad i went to play another game called Trackmania nations forever and when i tried to connect to online server there i got an error which said that my udp port could not be established try to configure your firewall...The server loaded with TCP i think. So i went to firewall made an exception for SWAT still didn't help...

I thought that the game will fix by itself so i tried to play after couple days... At first the server loaded but after couple matches connection got timed out and again no servers in server list... B: B: B:

If someone has any ideas please tell me because i'm not really good in computer stuff like that...

Obviously something with your internet connection.

However, haven't got anything like that before.

My suggestion - update all drivers on your PC.
( port drivers, internet connection related drivers and so on ).

Any connection troubles with your browser or other applications? Or is the problem limited to games?

What about Windows recovery 2-3 weeks back? That helped me more than once...

Check that your firewall isnt blocking any of the applications connected to S4.

swat is allowed in firewall so i don't think it could block it.. Or i somehow miss something in firewall configuration...

well, turn your firewall off, and try the game. If it works, then you need to look deeper into your firewall.

ok next, try and ping one of our S4 server IPs. Then try again with our website IP (178.63.127.240)

Let me know the results

Go to "all progams" in the scroll down menue when pressing the START button of windows (left corner), then go to ACCESSOIRES, then go to MS-DOS commando line.

A black screen opens, then type "ping" one bracket followed by the above IP adress.

Make a screenshot of the result and post it in here.

Hey.
Since your issue occurs to swat4 only and you said you had the connection problem after you were loading a map so I guess something messed up with your files.

 I'm not an expert but if I were you I would do the basic stuff; first reinstall all swat4 files and any mod/patch you got that is related to swat 4.
-Try to remember if you installed a program or perhaps changed anything that is possibly affecting your swat 4 and/or your connection.
-Read the patchlist of swat 4 or search on the internet and see if there is any information related to loading issues, connection failure in swat4.
-I use an antivirus and since your firewall isnt blocking swat 4 try to add swat 4 to exception list only if you have, try to play your firewall configuration settings like turning off stuff that you think will cause the problem, get in swat4 to test it and then turn it back on. (don't change anything you don't know ofc)
-Now, I don't think there is something with your connection but mabye something prevents you from connecting or loading a map.

Question I can't think of any other things to fix your issue but ya know there must be a solution.
Peace! Biggrin

Did you make any configuration changes to your game before this problem occurred? Be it ini file changes or map/mod/skin/etc. installations?

I remember I had a problem of the sorts where the game would go super slow whenever it tried to access the internet server list (took like half a minute or more to see where the mouse had moved, and no, servers would never appear). The problem solved by itself, eventually. I connected directly to the server via xfire when I had this problem.

Have you ever tried to connect to a server directly from xfire? That maybe can override it.

You always have the last recourse available, uninstall and delete everything (since some programs like to leave leftovers in different places, either in the registries, or in the appdata folder, or in the Program Files folder), though it can be a hassle to install everything all over again. If you do so, check if the game works fine raw (without any modifications), then take it from there to pinpoint the problem.

What this has to do with SOP's, i will never know.

However, there is currently an issue with the server.

i have made only these modifications:
installed sas mod
made keybinds
and changed in-game chat frame
though all of these modifications were made long time before my problem. I uninstalled the game completely (including skins, mods, maps) and only then i reinstalled.
About connecting via xfire... well when i try to look in server details this is what i get:
Server Query StatusServer is not responding to information query.
Server Name
Server IP 188.165.238.64:10540
I tried couple of different patches but before reinstalling the game so i will try to do it again with the s4 without any modifications.

As of right now, PGs are not online, so what you are getting about that server is expected. You should try the Training Ground's address if you have access to it. That or try a non-SAS server wait until PG4's back online :P.

Let's see if you can pinpoint your problem there, mate, we miss that tactical presence of yours :).

i think i had that problem with xfire for as long as my swat doesn't work..
Training server is the same...StatusServer is not responding to information query.
I miss all of u guys too, had so much fun playing with u...:)

well that would be a problem.. Because i live with my parents who are very strict and think that pc is some kind of evil box lol.. The problem is that if i would try to reinstall windows by myself my father wouldn't let me because he would say that i don't know what i'm doing.. and actually he would be right because i have no idea how to reinstall them by myself. The other option is to ask for a specialist to reinstall windows BUT it costs and again my parents wouldn't let me do that because they would say that computer is working fine and there is no reason to reinstall windows because games are silly and waste of time.. Biggrin Biggrin

The only idea I have for now would be to run a virus check.

Now, this one's feisty in many ways, but what are the chances you're operating under parental software?

Made a computer scan no threats were detected. I don't think that my pc could be under parental control.

Hmmm similar problem occurred in game nfs world. When i tried to play a multi player race the game found racers but the game freezes on loading to race and then in chat it says : NETERROR_CONNECT_PEER_TIMEOUT and then i get back in free roam. So looks like that the problem isn't in s4 but in my computer...

Just an idea... posted your error message on Google and one of results showed me this:

''So far, we've noticed two programs might interfere with multiplayer races in-game: Cisco VPN client - must be shut down Hamachi or any other adapter - make sure your local area network connection is stacked on top of the list or disable Hamachi entirely.''

Basically, your connection problem can be related with alternative network adapters.

Means, if you have Hamachi or any other network adapter - Turn it off. And set your LAN as priority.

I'm not a very smart guy in these things, just an idea Wink
