it was a nice find ill prob be useing some of these in rvs so look out for it hehe im gonna have to take notes and memorize a few alot of these are good in gta mutiplayer for ex the car theft these are also a good thing to know in notifying police in real life

Last seen: 11 years 5 days ago

Well Remember Raynolds....

Police are transferring things over to Plain English now, so there is no confussion

The only codes that are still in tact are those like "rape victim" we don't wanna be yelling this over the radio...That would cause a HUGE panic over the radio

Last seen: 14 years 10 months ago

well ur a firefighter
police and fire and different cops still use codes i dont know about fire and ambulance teams

Last seen: 13 years 9 months ago

Some how, I think big dabbles in both fire and police

Last seen: 10 years 10 months ago

All I will say is 1337 ............. Biggrin

Last seen: 14 years 10 months ago

lol i cant find any of these i think i gotta take the time to really read it welll and not just speed by

Last seen: 11 years 5 months ago

I've never understood the benefit of using these over real words. It's very likely I'd forget the difference between an 11-41 and an 11-42; but unlikely I'd be confused by "request ambulance" or "ambulance not required".

I'm sure there is a reason, and someone is probably going to tell me...

Last seen: 11 years 5 days ago

As I stated before Adze, Police are moving to plain English b/c of this.
(stating this as a Future Police Officer give or take 6 months)
The only terms that will be used in Code is things that you don't want normal citizens hearing over their scanners.

Last seen: 14 years 10 months ago

hey big ur gonna be a cop ?

Last seen: 4 years 8 months ago

I'm sure there is a reason, and someone is probably going to tell me...

I believe that the reason for adapting the various radio codes was to keep it "short and sweet". Old radios were crappy enough, never mind the hub bub going on around you. So being terse was a bit of a great thing:

Calling in a "One Eighty Seven" or whatever versus "Dead body found in back alley, head missing, I say again the head is missing".

Which do you think would be easier to understand under worst case transmitting conditions lol.

With advancements in technology I guess it makes more sense to use regular English for most stuff. @Big, I'm glad they still use the codes for some things then.

Last seen: 11 years 5 months ago

Around here they still use them alot for now, JB should remember alot of them too, We use to know them well. They do cut down on misinterpreted words and also keep chat to a min.

Last seen: 3 years 11 months ago

Yah, when I took Police Patrol Procedures we discussed the various code systems and only a few get much use. The phonetic alphabet is, as for the military, very useful for clarity on words. Radio is a lot better today than it was.
