hmm ... I would buy X-plane 8 instead, because X-plane downloads the weather data from the internet and load it up to your game ... if you decide to start from the London airport you get the exact weather that is in London RIGHT NOW. In addition I think X-plane is one of the only professional flight simulator that was customized for public. The deluxe edition might cost 75 bugs ... but therefore you get 10 CDs and the game will take up 60GB of your driver space after you installed it.
I had a go of it and honestly, its nothing that new I don't think.
If you really want to fly planes and be a fighter pilot then go for Aces High II, it requires serious skills to be good at in combat and is an awesome sim.
Personally i don't care for modern missle combat, not my style. Nore do I really care for the ground attack role. I think the only flight sims I'd really like are ones dated to the times of the 'real aces' back in WWI and WWII. Aces High II might be interesting in that regard but all my dough is saved for ArmA
I flew regularly a jumbo from London Heathrow to Johannesburg: I took off during breakfast, put her on autopilot, went to work, and landed in South Africa in the afternoon... But it wasn't fun for very long...
It has a free 8player arena. The only time you have to pay is if you want to play in the main area which has 100s or people but to play in offline mod and up to 8 person multilayer it is 100% free.
Hey... put the flight simulators away and focus on the games that are situated on the ground :o 8). Special ->Air<- Service huh? Or Scandinavian Airlines .
My brother was in to that, think he changed his mind about getting it though.

Never had the skill nor the patience for these flight simulators. Heck the longest I have kept my self in the air was for 10 seconds I think.

Didn't they advertise that on the Aviation based Discovery sub-channel before it became the Military Channel ?
