Keybind Problems

Not sure if this is the right section but I'm having problems using my keybinds, they don't work at all when I go in game. Here's the keybinds I put which if you want to know are located in my C:\Program Files(x86)\Sierra\S.W.A.T 4\Content\Systems and then the User.ini. Anyhow, this is my bind setup so far.

R=Reload | Teamsay [c=002AD4]-Reloading-

and

NumPad7=Teamsay [c=E90000][B]-One suspect visible-
NumPad8=Teamsay [c=E90000][B]-Multiple suspects visible-
NumPad9=Teamsay [c=009900][B]-Civilian(s) visible-

I've also tried putting it like this:

NumPad7=Teamsay [c=E90000] [B] -One suspect visible-
NumPad8=Teamsay [c=E90000] [B] -Multiple suspects visible-
NumPad9=Teamsay [c=009900] [B] -Civilian(s) visible-

and if it matters im on Windows 7.

Hi ElitE!

This might help you: --> http://www.sasclan.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=9949&highlight=keybind

And skip the reloading keybind - it's the most stupid keybind ever. Dirol

Less keybinds are more...

Also, if you're thinking about making keybinds such
( primary weapon up, secondary weapon up also about reloading ) Well... don't make them.

Those are very annoying because there are really no reason for us to see what weapon you are holding and they appear pretty often so spamming the chat box.

Also, agree with Duke, about reloading keybinds. That's not what you should have in first place.

Things you should have :

1. suspect spotted / civilian
2. suspect down / neutralised
3. we have a runner

As for regular player, those you should have, everything else, is up to you.

there is alot stuff u can bind to ur keys but like magnum and duke sayd ...make it simple ! too much information can confuse ur team. and dont color ur text like a rainbow Wink
personally would i say a tango down button is not needed because u have a ''clear'' but thats my personally meaning.

I assume those keybind that Magnum mentioned are good for RvS as well (obviously changing to suit)?

Also, is there a tutorial on here for making RvS keybinds?

I know DUKE likes fewer key binds. I have lots of them. I agree that in general there are some that don't make sense to have, especially the ones that notify others of actions you have already initiated.

I do have my reload key bound to a phrase, but it's not the first notification my team gets informing them that I need to reload. I have a key that says "I need to reload!" Then I wait for someone to tell me that I'm covered before I press and hold down my reload key that says, "Gun Down. Reloading." When the reload animation ends and my weapon is ready to go, I release the reload key and it says, "Gun Up. Ready to Go." This lets everyone know that I'm back in the fight. It's not really spam because I only reload once per map, maybe twice unless I'm playing some sick custom map with 60 tangos.

Binding to the melee key, handcuff key, or to other tools doesn't make a lot of sense and I don't do it for my normal key bind set. It doesn't even make a lot of sense to bind your tac aids because most people bind them with "Deploying flash bang, or Preparing flash bang, etc..." What if you don't have any remaining? Oops. You just told everyone false information.

As far as tango down...I only press that button when I've taken down a runner. That way, all teams know the runner is down and don't have to worry about him wandering into their AO. A downed tango is no longer a threat and generally not worth the effort to report him to your team. You are giving them information that they do not need to continue the mission. It's no longer relevant....the tango is dead.

Key binds certainly make leading easier and more detailed when you aren't on a voice channel, but it's only effective if your assaulters can read your key binds, so try to make them short and to the point so they don't become too much of a distraction.

As far as color-coding them. I'm not for rainbow coloring them without method or reason. My command binds are in blue. The danger binds are in red. The caution or alert key binds are in yellow and orange. Alfa team members are in red and bravo team members are in blue (red and blue within the same element). Things that report relatively benign information are in green (a safe color).

If you follow that link given above, you can see a version of my key binds from not so long ago. I've made a couple of small tweaks since then, but it's essentially exactly how I have them.

Well, about the "tango down" bind: you also inform your team about a room/area clear i.e. no further threat present, don't you?
Ofc you don't need to report every tango down. But it always distracts me when there are shots fired and no report follows (not even a "clear"). Is the fight still going on? Do the operators need support? Is mb even a team member down?
Another example is a tango in a covered or concealed position: the team may lay suppressing fire on the postion or hold in covered positions themselfes, both unncessary if you already took the threat down.
