I WARN YOU NOW THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG POST!
Following lCpl Duke's advice, i have decided to sign up here and introduce myself.
My original screename is Dilarus, i came up with MonkeYMaN the day i found the SAS training ground
My aliases:Dilarus
MonkeYMaN
Hank
Wobbles
Timon
Im from England, ive been playing/training on the SAS training ground for about two weeks now
Youll recognise me from my odd camouflage (generally pink) my barking orders over the VoIp, or by me being stood next to, WORMMEISTER .
Turn ons: good teamplay, long walks on the beach and SAS_Spidey
Turn offs: ppl who block doorways, teammates who dont take the proper equipment and BOXER
Funny ocurrances in the server:
1. my wand not working and i give the 'clear' anyway, finding my entire squad dead only a second later.
2. i fire round after round of beanbags into a sus, only to find it has no effect and the sus wipes out my team
3. beating a sus to death because he said the f word one too many times
4. getting beaten to death by wormmeister for doing so
5. changing my name to Timon, and along with Pumbaa (wormmeister) and Mufasa (woodlake88th) singing 'the lion sleeps tonight' over the VoIp
i feel i have made a few friends on the server, and DUKE has mentioned a liking for my style of humour, which comes out constantly during my time on the server.
Ok now for the boring part, what i think of the SAS
apart from their sexy camo
WARNING IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ MY LIFE STORY SKIP THIS PART ENTIRELY!
[boring part]
As an avid gamer who enjoys tactical playing over mindless killing, i was trawling through the SWAT 4 servers only to be disappointed at every turn. Finding teams of foul mouthed rambos who would get themselves killed and blame the game over their own lack of skill.
But then i came across the SAS clan's training ground and stuck around for a day or two, just because the swearing was toned down and there was always people playing.
Up until this point i only played with the LTL shotgun , trying my hardest to get that elusive 100% score. If i got lucky and made the 100, it would be the most unfulfilling victory as suspects would throw countless bullets my way, only to retaliate with a beanbag seemed so tame. There had to be more to the game than constant non lethal play.
When the SAS told me to take a lethal gun and kill people, i shamefully admit i argued with them, as i thought using less than lethal took more skill than just spraying a room with a machinegun.
I was on the verge of getting kicked when i gave in and used a lethal gun, i didnt fire a single shot, but just by following the SAS team around i noticed that they hardly ever took a hit and that miscommunication was eliminated as each member knew where to be ahead of time.
It was then that i realised keeping yourself and your team alive, ensuring the safety of the hostages and clearing rooms quickly and effectively is next to impossible with non lethal weapons. The scoring system ingame is a little unrealistic in that there are circumstances that call for force.
For example a sus is pointing an AK at a hostage's head, you dont want to be messing around with pepper spray, you must take down the sus before the hostage comes to harm, if they dont drop the weapon, you drop them.
AND SO it dawned on me, this was how games should be played, with outstanding effectiveness and teamwork, not as a competition for the highest score. Ive always felt that there is no place for lone wolves, these SAS guys prove it.
i guess people join the SAS to be safe in the knowledge that the person covering their back is the best there is.
Ive met some great gamers (such as DUKE, SPIDEY, LAZKO (sas) and WORMMEISTER, WOODLAKE88th, NAVY (non sas)) and some not so great (*cough*BOXER*cough*) but every round i have played here has been a learning experience, i have gone from breaking the rules out of ignorance to enforcing them single mindedly.
Theres been countless times ive had to warn someone about thier language or to tell them to GET BACK IN FORMATION
[/ boring part]
OK i guess ill wrap it up now, as for my skills ingame, lets say im a good team player, i have no problems taking orders from someone who knows what theyre doing. I usually find myself in a leadership position and 90% of the time my squad comes out alive >.< Im usually the first to die, because what i have in strategy i lack in accuracy heh i gotta work on that.
Come find me on the server and ill show you what im made of.
dont be surprised to see this:
MonkeYMan betrayed Wormmeister with an Asswhooping

and if i'm correct it was me and fox you argued with bout the lethal/LTL discussion
exactly right YUKE, i felt like a big hipocrite when i told my 1st team to take lethal weapons, Worm kept making fun of me after that lol.
And i remember i asked to join SAS_FOX's team and he said
"well are you prepared to kill someone if you have to?"
Man was my face red >.<
but i assume your now a real killer if thats the only way to save them lives
Due to technical issues.... I will be posting this message from Monkey

Not very boring at all... maybe the colours keep it lively. (gotta love the *coughing* parts)
I see that you've kept your MonkeYMaN nick
