Nice to meet you all. Been playing some games on your RS server the last couple weeks, like the way you guys do things. It's such a shame tactical shooters have become a small minority.
Anyway I'm looking to get some games on with some likeminded people, get into some proper tactical gaming again so I put in an application the other day to test the water. My skills ingame arent amazing but hopefully the real life knowledge I have can bring a lot to the table here.
Thanks guys,
Marb
Nice to meet you Marb. Welcome to the forums.

Howdy Marb and welcome to ya
Had a couple good games last night, was interesting seeing how things are done around here. Would be great to see more of the better planned ops, that's what I'm really after.
Quick question though. Is the planning, tactics and drills you guys use solely developed over time through the game or have you tried to incorporate real stuff into it as well?
We look at what is done in real world tactics based on personal experience or official tactical manuals, then we try it in the games and try to adapt the tactics as much as we can to the game environment without sacrificing much realism.
There are many things you can do in the games, that work only in games. Those are the tactics we avoid like the plague.
Good examples of bad tactics in SWAT 4:
Body blocking doors
Closing a forward door.
Tazer and pepper rushes
Standard Cross-scanning (not to be confused with angular search)
Dynamic entry of anything larger than a toilet with a tazer
C2 trick
Explosive Tactical Door Humping
Reloading after every tango or burst of fire from your weapon
Optiwand use directly after a dynamic entry. In real life, any tangos you wand in the next room, know you are there from all the flashbangs and screaming compliance
There are many more, but you get the idea. I can explain to you in the server why each of these things is an exploit or just don't make tactical sense when you think about it for more than two seconds.

Yeah sure I get you, just wanted to know to what extent you guys carried the title of regiment into the games you play.
Hello Marb, welcome to the forum !
SAS_Magnum Lance Corporal SAS 22nd Elite Virtual Regiment.
I've got a rather serious problem with RS at the moment. Every time the server changes maps, the game locks up at the final score screen, then after a while boots me back to the MP server list saying "Connection to the server was lost".
This wasn't a huge issue up until now because I'd just disconnect and reconnect before the map changes but now I have to restart my game to get back on the SAS server or I get the "Server is not responding" message.
Anyone have any idea what's causing this issue? Thanks!
I have no clue what causes the issue.
We had some great games today, I hope you get it resolved!
I experience that issue on a regular basis to which i have found no fix. I just cope with it, most of the members will wait for you if they know you have this problem.

Not a fix to the primary problem, but when I get the "Server is not responding" message I just connect to the server via IP (address is on the homepage) and I'm able to get in fine again.

Welcome to the forums Marb. Hopefully we'll be able to play RvS together after I finish my Selection in SWAT. Welcome again and have fun!

Ok thanks guys, if I get the second issue again I'll try direct IP like West suggested.
