is there anyway a theme could be created that would remove the top image from the site. Though it hasn't been a problem before recently my school and work have both objected to me visiting this site based on the "weapon" displayed at the top of the page. The machines I use run a program called deepfreeze so I can't simply adblock the image any chance you guys can help?

That should be possible yes. I was planning to make a little change to the way Themes work on the site so I will probably do that for you at the same time.
