Combining Battlefield with swat 4

Wanna go hunting with new, realistic, weapons.

Do it the canadian way with Candian Forses Direct Action!

It's a mod for SWAT 4 and is only 657MB so downloading shouldnt take that long. I believe the mod was made for the canadian arms force to go training with it so it should be reasonably realistic.

I installed it yesterday and i can say, it looks BIG, realy realy BIG.

Snipe those S.O.B's from up to 800Mtr (aprox. 2400Ft).
Throw stun grenades, smokebombs, and other single-use tac.aids.
Shoot a rocketpropelled grenade to tanks.
Bring your new Boxersnipergun to the field and start mowing the lawn!
Al this can be done on several very new maps.
You can still use all your old swat 4 and swat 4 tss weapons btw.

This mod looks pretty cool.

I have ordered Swat 4 gold edition so i can give it a try.

I personally love free stuff.

There's a short video showing how they incorporate the game into the simulation... pretty interesting.

The Diemaco C7/C8 w/ optional scope (finally, scoped automatics!) are great to use (the C8 being the carbine variant). It's much more controllable than the m4 for me, and I'm liking it more than the reliable AK. It would've been nice to have the C7/C8's with suppressors, but I suppose they don't use those as much irl?

The LMG has a _very_ high RoF, and comes in auto/burst - great for tango hunting and is very satisfying to use -- reminds me of using one in RvS, without running around though. . I haven't seen a use for the RPG... as there isn't any tanks?

The new C3A1 sniper rifle has a 6 round mag capacity and zooms in pretty quickly. The CAR SD was similarily modified to zoom quickly and has a more powerful scope.

It includes a number of their own which remind me of AA styled maps, and are quite large. Imo, it's great to have these maps where there's long-range, mid-range, and cqb right in it. It also includes some user created maps.

Tacaids:
9bang - new flashbang model (I've only seen this in the regiment as well)
concussion - at last, s4's own frag nade (basically throwing a c2)
red smoke - seems to work (even got hit once through it)

A bunch of included skins are nice - my fav being CADPAT AR. There's also some matching helmets. They took out heavy armour - I wonder why Blum 3

Leaning is now similar to RvS (although you cannot move and lean), instead of that awkward stepping out.

The bad part: there are the bunch of bugs/glitches that I experienced.
- some maps don't have correct lighting
- lightstick bug still exists from TSS (seems like I only get this though)
- ladders are very buggy. If you get stuck, try to get off the end you came on. Even if you manage to get off from that end you won't be able to reload/switch weapons again (found going on the ladder again remedies this)
- missing reload sounds. They probably didn't care for them Blum 3

The menu doesn't have added entries for the new tacaids, but in those simulations it looks like they plan it out beforehand and during the round they use headsets.

It also comes loaded with Gez's admin server and client mods.

Overall, a very great mod to try and play. And Spidey: this mod didn't hog my machine as bad as the St. Michael's map Blum 3

You should really try this mod.

Its totally awesome.

On my first game, I ordered an artillery attack on a sector.

And then let me give you an advise.

Do NOT go into that sector. Its un-healthy :roll:

This mod gives new blood to the swat game.

It is a good mix of open areas and CQB...

New weapons, new tactical-aids, new beautiful maps, camo-skins, air-strike, very good atmosphere... Lol

Hell - what do you want more ('till Ground Branch launches) Question

The negative points are:
-----------------------------
- Ladders --> just avoid ladders...
- new tac-aids are not listed in the command-menue
- in open terrain appears no red sign when ordering "move to"
- sometimes there is no sound when releasing the pin of a grenade
- Spidey has now frags here, too... Wink
- no mission-briefing

Anyway - give it a shot Exclaim and you will like it Exclaim

And now - if only the Ravenshield-guys could ONCE abstain from the running/walking-speed of SWAT...

It seems very smooth... some things I noticed...

-Default install path - If you moved your game, you can't pick another install path. Just let it extract itself then prune and graft the new mod folder to the correct location.

-USER.INI - If you hava a load of key binds or a specific key config you enjoyed from SWAT or SWAT TSS you can copy your USER.INI file from the other versions into the \System directory and the game will use it.

-Door Glitching - A door that has started to move is instantly invisible to the Suspects... which means, you can't see through it to aquire targets, but the armed suspects can see and target you just fine.

-Stinger Release - It appears that throwing a stinger into an open door is easier, not as prone to bounce back like during S4 and S4 TSS.

-Reticle Closure - Appears alot slower to close then in previous SWAT game platforms. Armed Suspects are still crack shots with pistols.. but you will not Run & Gun effectively in this platform.

I have yet to play a mission with others... just instant action eval so far.

Looks very nice though.

It's true, reticles don't close very fast, however this is perfectly balanced by the fact that when walking they don't open that much.

Ah, I don't know why I forgot about this, but originally I did not have enough space to install it because you could not change the install directory. I wonder if anyone knows some switch or something to change this (annoying) default behaviour?

Although I eventually got it on another drive (moving the files manually while it was installing), it looks like you can manually extract the archive with 7zip. One of the .exe's looks like its placed in another folder - though that's just a wrapper, and some missing config files look like they can be generated by the first run but I haven't tried yet.

The door thing was there in TSS too I think... they sometimes fire into an opening door - just wait for 2 shots or so, then go in.

Definatly a nice mod. However I found I lagged like crazy when I actually joined a server. If you avoid the ladders... overall it was pretty nice. The LMG in paticular. Wink

Finally found the updated Version 3.0.

I downloaded and installed the mod and it runs good. Chat and the red sign cross in open areas are working fine now. Dunno what was the problem with ladders but i tried them und noticed no bug's.

The version number should be saved in Sierra\SWAT 4\ModName\System\Version.ini

ModName should be something obvious for a mod, but in the case of CFDA, who knows....

I'm downloading 1.0 now, but I am not very crazy about file splitters! The only file spliters I trust are built into my archivers and have the code available so that I can go read it first. -- yes I'm paranoid, it runs in the family.

Down Loaded and Installed V1.0. Like Spidey I dont trust that file splitting buisness. Only because its so much work hehe. Im good with 1.0 for now though. It looks awesome. Instant action was a good teaser. I cant wait to see its MP capabilities. Now its a question of finding a server to use MP.
