Do we need the Archive forum?
As i have never had access i dont know what is in there, but i see the last addition was 26 months ago. Just wondered if nothing has been returned then, do we need it?

I think the Archive is just a store house of old posts.
Only GCHQ has access I beleive, I remember I once trried to see what it was when I was only a sas hangaround.
I'd love to have a peek in there!
I used to like looking round in there. But then it got boring. A lot of the old posts were broken, threads didn't make sense, double posting etc etc. Full of people that were so old school, they were members of SAS before I was even born (Ok, not possible, but it was close).
I think we need it, to keep the current forums tidy. I think it would be a shame to just delete old stuff.
ok
I just wondered, seeing as it hasnt been used for over 2 years.

I wonder if the very first post on the forums is in their some where:)
I don't think so. Probably got lost when they changed to whatever board system we used last (just before this one).
yeh lots got lost last year

I would like to peek in there too. but anyways what is the reason for it being closed?
so that people dont start reviving old threads

yes we do need it. we keep all records of everything in the past, plus having it really helped when a time line was made along with who was in the clan and go in by whom, the older stuff is really messy but hte newer stuff is much cleraer so 2-3 years down the road when maybe some of us wont be around or even longer they will know exactly where they came from

I should really do some archiving, shift a whole load more into there, it might make the normal forums a bit quicker (although only a tiny bit).
