AA 2.7 out now.

Well I've been a bit busy with work for the last few weeks but give or take a few days, the 2.7 AA patch with Overmatch for the PC is out now. They totaly rehauled the training menu and login system GUI, prompting players to sign in before hitting the mainmenus. It's ok, but the Javlien training is really fun, though annoying figuring out what are valid and nonvalid targets.

Off a tangent I finaly have my own Xbox Live gamertag and I no longer have to get my Live kicks off of friends' accounts. I've been playing mainly Rainbow Six 3, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, a little bit of Ghost Recon Island Thunder (still need to get orginal GR, even though I own it on PC as well), and some Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. To be honest, I'm finding BF2 slightly more enjoyable on the xbox than my runs on it for the PC, mainly for one that the "medic" class doesn't carry shock pads to revive members anymore. My only gripe is the helos can't angle all the way down, making a gunner's job a real.... pain. I also plan to purchase BF2 gold edition for PC very soon.

This is the version I have been waiting for...

It has a COOP feature... new AI... Vehicles you can drive and ride in... new weapons... new new new...

It is also 2.5 Gig and there is no patch from 2.6 to 2.7... you now have to download the whole game again....

You can find it at http://www.americasarmy.com

So get cracking...

Oh balls

I'm used to downloading things the size of a CD-ROM [.iso], now I need to download a DVD-ROM >_

The AI I'm sure is new because they never had any before in less you count pubs whose "AI" is to strif between bullets and fire and fire till some one dies.

If Coop is worth playing I update Smile If not I'll wait till I'm lazy.

Oh yes and there's a few major issues with 2.7 for people who don't follow the install guide here:

http://forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?t=229734

You MUST uninstall 2.6 verison of AA and do the RemoveAA.reg step or you will be getting serious problems. Mine was not being able to see servers propperly for both AA browser default and Gamespy alternative.

Installed and setup, I like the new battle dress.

Working through BCT again to kill the rust, but they made the shooting range to darn easy ! I scored 40 out of 40 on record fire, before I was usually a 35-37/40 on a good day.

I hope this games worth the 5 hour Download for all this new stuff, off to revist revamps !

I have tried 5 time to run the thing. It just leaves a black screen. I did the code thing mentioned earlier. I downloaded the program 2 times. Maybe I will down load it from a different place. I did Fileplanet.
So far I don't like this version!!!! hehe

SAS_VET_Centurion. And that is my $.02 Cdn. worth!!! Just because I am 51, does not mean I am old!

They should've included some inegetry checks.

Have you tried updating your video card drivers?

I am a complete noob to the game, but I find it interesting. The game itself reminded me of the BF-deom i dl'ed.

My daughter loved the HMMWE training session -- even if she drove like in a Formula 1 game, rolled over several times -- and passed... I will not lend her the keys to my new Land Rover... Blum 3

Can we apply some of our tactics in the game? Or is it too much gung-ho?

The only downside so far, is that the game is a bit too oversea'ish for my taste.

Our tactics can and can't be applied:

1) it's mainly and aversarial game
2) coop maps are laggy and few

Your daughter drives like mee! lol

From what I saw last nite the AI in a bunker seems to work on the idea of Hide, flea, take cover, and suppress as their tactical options. They yell in a language thats probably a mishmash or made up but I've heard them say S*** and GOD, he's an idiot ! when I've been side-stepping the pie.

Yes AAO is worse the S4 on pie. You also don't want to use allot of nades inless your sure you won't bounce them back because you lose points and hurt people. Bangs are also very effective and more annoying and resistic thena ny other game I've used them in. Better then frags in Advers imho.

I am hopeful of where this game may go...

Right now its only 2 coop maps.. but we will wait and see if they make more... they did alot to the game to get it to this point....

In the main release notes.. the US Army sees that the Adver game mode is just producing idiots.. Undesired results I think they say... They want more emphasis on teamwork and tactics... they dont see that in the Adver version which is why they have started moving the game over to COOP.

As for can we apply our tactics.... I would say yes... the soldiers can carry primary weapons... with Silencers... Scopes... FlashBangs, Smoke, Thermite, and Frag. It also has a Door Breeching Mechanism...

The game offers a HUD and Radar feature similar to RVS in nature.

There is alot of potiential here... I am not interested in the Adver games... but I am watching it for the COOP world...

And the AI used is supposed to be quite impressive.

Na, the shooting range hasn't changed much since 1.9, it's just your little Shoothouse runs have improved your aim considerable. :glasses:

I've been mainly playing SF Snakeplain as a POW... very much worth the 5 hour download for me. The other co op map is a PAIN in the arse to get done but a very fun one, however. It's just some servers play with a 10 minute counter or less and both maps are HUGE, and objectives take at least 4 to 5 minutes to get to on foot (if hummer is destroyed, or if the Quick Reaction forces are deployed) so a 30 minute timer is more acceptable as these types of missions in real life would take about that long or longer.

As for En4cer's focus points on his last post, AA 2.8 is going to be shipping with a map editor for the community to make co op and versus themed maps. Also there are some rumors of new co ops already on the drawing boards that make Steamroller look small.

Well once 2.8 hits the web, the team is pulling gears and focusing work on the Unreal Engine 3.0 verison of America's Army. They'll release minor patch fixes, but 2.8 should be the final edition of AA for the current Unreal Tech build so that's why they're dumping the editor out now. They just didn't want people to make maps that are very... unbalanced and favors one side.
