Hey guys!
While i was playing on PG4 (SWAT), PG2 (RVS), or just stalking random SAS members on XFire to see what they're playing , i got the impression that you guys discriminate Raven Shield.
I dont mean to be rude, or anything like that, but i think that your main focus is Swat 4, and i'd like to know why?
Look, i totally understand that Swat is a very good game, with a good concept behind it, but i always thought that its gameplay is its major flaw.
Its controls feel clunky and not-smooth, it has a VERY limited selection of weapons. The gameplay, oh well, lets just say once i shot a guy 5 times... in the head... then he turned around and killed me... -_-
You have this unconsistent gameplay, i cant describe it, it just feels wrong!!
I mean, i think Raven Shield is the ultimate special forces virtual experience, with the ability to make detailed plans, execute them perfectly, choose and customise your loadout, choosing from an extense range of real-world weaponry, offering a memorable gameplay experience with fluid controls, and an easy to learn, difficult to master mechanic. You can customise it to any level to offer you any kind of experience, whether you want to be a lone sniper, or the leader of an assault team, whether you like SMG's or the bigger guns!! Its major flaw is the AI, i give you that, but still, its superior in so many ways!!
But still, most of you guys prefer SWAT over RVS, i can barely see a SAS member on PG2  (with the exception of Elite and Yogi!! :o ) and i would like to know your opinion, whether you are a Raven Shield or a SWAT fan!!!

I also like more RVS over S4. As for the activity, I am on the server almost every night starting at 2330 GMT. That been said, we got more S4 members at this moment because of some internal matter which I won't discuss here. Be sure that we are not discriminating RVS and a lot of our members play almost only RVS.

"Discriminate" wouldn't be the right word to describe it. It's all a matter of personal opinion. As you said XFactor, in some ways SWAT and RVS are quite different, which only helps to diverge opinions on each of our preferred games.
I imagine every SAS member leans towards one game over the other, most of the time it's the first game they play that they stick with most. Others who have both games try to hop on the other PG every now and then. Also don't forget that there are a handful of members who only have SWAT.

I only ever play RvS simply because I don't have SWAT4. Saying that, having seen footage, it's probably not something I would consider purchasing. I have always loved the R6 series (well, as far as RvS anyway).
For me comparing RvS and SWAT is similar to comparing BF3 & MW3: they are looking same and based on the same idea, however they are completely different
Yes I like RvS aswell more, mostly same reasons as XFactor: better loadout selection, better and unique planning and highly customizable gameplay experience. I find it a little bit bad that you can see SAS members on S4 server almost at any time, when it is sometimes hard to see even a couple of different SAS members on RvS server during a day. I know that everybody got their personal life and have no time to "nolife" for games, but still i'm looking abit more activity in RvS server
Don't take anything i written above too serious, because i have nothing against players who are focused on S4 It's just a one little suggestion that would make the RvS experience better because it starts boring to play sometimes with pubbers.
There are a growing number of members who only own one game. Right now the amount of SWAT troopers is more than the amount of RvS Troopers. That's just a statistic for you.
It is hard to abandon your old favorite, and for some, SWAT is just that. They never got their hands on RvS, I'm sure
Also, those of us that do have both games (like SAS_West said) tend to favor one over the other. Just like you will rarely see me playing SWAT4, you will see other members who rarely play RvS.
It just so happens that we have a bit more of those that prefer SWAT4. It's not a clan discrimination thing - it's personal preference.
If I had my way, we'd only play RvS ;P. But then we wouldn't be very popular lol.
For now, the only way to get more SAS members to play RvS, is to gain more members that play RvS. We are recruiting - just waiting for applications
Discrimination? No way As said, it's just personal preference and usually you stick to the game with which you started when you set first time feet on the ProvingGrounds.
On the other hand - why shall I drive my brown LandRover when I have much more fun with my black Porsche...
XFactor, have you ever played the SAS-Mod? Most of the features you praise in your post about the benefits of RvS ARE INCLUDED in this genius mod. It just ROCKS Give it a shot and let you surprise.
"What's the plan?
Track'em, find'em, kill'em!"
Now Duke is discriminating against my brown land rover....cheers m8

Yes I'm down with that

Well, i didnt meant discrimination like you were really discriminating!!!! its just a way of saying things!!
But yeah i totally understand its a matter of personal preferences, and im cool with that, i was just curious, thats all!!
Hey, Duke, maybe you have more fun with your black porche, but can your porche do this?
Ok im just kidding!! i understand you guys, thanks for satisfying my curiosity!!
Maybe in the future, youll have more Range Rover Fans!!
I'm also playing very often (nearly every day on PGs + clan sessions on TG when it comes to). Though xfire and RVS crash my game in combination, but at all I play RVS very often, ... It's after so many years still my favorite game.
I'd take a land rover over a Porsche any day - especially if it's a 90 or a 110
I prefer Swat4 for a simple reason: I like the challenge that comes with the stricter RoE.
In RvS or other realistic military shooter you take down tangos and mainly that's it. Well, yea there a many tangos and bombs and stuff which makes things more complex. And it's also fun for me to play this games.
But Swat is a police game (at least it's meant to be ). So one can't shoot down tangos simply at sight (mostly). Depending on the current RoE you have to evaluate the reaction of the person in front of you. I love this splitseconds when I have a contact in my aim waiting for his reaction to our compliance order ready to pull the trigger whenever necessary. Mental state of readiness: red, just relying on my mental triggers to take the right decision fast enough. Pure adrenaline for me
Furthermore the difference in RoE demand to stay in control of the room and complied contacts. In RvS you just take down tangos and move on. In S4 you have to stay in control of complied contacts, and that can be many in certain rooms. Depending on your team size, this can create a nice challenge.
Although arresting isn't essential practice in RvS, it is something I still prefer to do. At the very least, it enhances your ability to recognise threats and determine their importance. One of my biggest problems is target recognition I.e. distinguishing tangos from hostages, especially when they're wearing similar clothes and are facing away from you (see garage map). Still, practice makes perfect
There are some custom maps in RVS that force a larger proportion of tangos to surrender so you can cuff them if you wish. However in default stock mode there's only person you handcuff and that's mission related.
Regarding SWAT being a police game, it is, but there is also an Mod, Canadian Special Forces or something to that extent, that turns it into a game a bit more like RVS.
Personally, I prefer RVS but a lot of that may be down to how cumbersome getting SWAT to play properly can be for me. Seriously I'd often start the game, go make a sandwich, come back and see the game was still loading. The wait for loading killed me.
But with over 1,400 hrs clocked on RVS I can say it truly is a gem of a game that is a blast to play cooperatively.:)
I agree on this. I really like that feature, but my problem is those "split seconds" where I die 90% of the time lol. Maybe it's just the difficulty it's on for our server ;P
Hate to break it to you Yogi... but there are no difficulty settings in MP for SWAT hehe...

Lol. Then I just suck at SWAT, that's why I don't like it xD. I'm bad enough in RvS lol
I also like RVS somehow more than SWAT.
Maybe I'm too lazy to communicate with the gangsters.
Well SWAT at some points is in terms of a police game interesting, if you try to not just kill your opponent, but I have to say: Sometimes I would not do it in real life, and I don't know if anyone would do.
If like some heavy armed gangster with a M4 runs away and yeah... I guess I would shoot him at least in the leg or something. But I don't know, on the other hand: SWAT sometimes offers interesting scenarios. Also that for example armed teenagers react different than those heavily armed guys.
I like that sort of creating individual challenges on each map, also depending on which opponent you're facing.
