Hey guys,
I hope this threat not exists yet. I couldn't find "search"-option. I got the glorious idea to ask around which your favorite weapons in the games are.
Sooooo, I best start myself:
In Ravenshield, since there are much more weapons and variations available:
If I had to choose a favorite mp/smg, I would take:
- MP5A4, you can never go wrong with that one...
- M12, also nice handling and 40 shots in one clip.
- MTAR-12 has awesome handling in close situations.
- Uzi also nice if it comes close, but...
- P90; 50 shots, very flexible, only disadvantage is small calibre
When I need flexible smg for short and "long" range, though precise, MP5A4 or its bigger brother UMP.
Favorite ARs:
- AK74; really good controlable for me and precise
- AUG; great bullpub one
- M82; amazing handling, though precise,
- G3A3; if you know how to handle deadly
- G36K; classic... Easy to handle, very precise.
Shotguns?
- SPAS-12, ... USAS-12 also nice with clip, but seems more like... I don't know. Not like shotgun anymore.
Sniper rifles??
- lol; PSG-1? AW Covert? Not really use them though...
LMGs?
- also never really use them in Multiplay; the German ones are nice though...
Pistols!!
- P228 usually my favorite...
In SWAT4, not that much choice!
- UMP is nice, though bit low fire rate
- MP5 always good as used to
- Glock17
- but when I think about it: FAVORITE smg is P90 in SWAT
ArmA:
- got to play more often again, but I love the G3 (available with ACE)
- FAL is a nice one, though no scope, ...
- There was one Kalashnikov like I really loved to use... But got to play again to remember the name. :?
Now your turn guys...
I don't remember and I haven't played enough of the other games to know what my favorite ones are, but I do have some favorites for RavenShield.
Submachine Guns:
MP5A4 - Standard. All around a great weapon. Gets the job done for most situations.
M12 - Useful for situations where I want more bullets or have to take out a lot of tangos at once. Good when you don't have as many people on the team.
MP10A2? (Can't remember) - Higher caliber SMG for times when the MP5A4 doesn't seem to knock em down quick enough.
Assault Rifles:
FNC - Simply my favorite. Puts an enemy down with one bullet.
L85A2 - Like the FNC but with a Bullpup design. Better than the FNC for close encounters.
TAR 21 - Not as good as the L85, but I use it as a super pumped up SMG for mainly close quarters.
Shotguns:
SPAS-12 - Just my weapon of choice. More firepower, more ammo (I think?), good fire rate. I really only use them for super close quarters, but they still seem to fail me on that. RvS comes close, but it still saddens me the way that video games handle shotguns.
Sniper Rifle:
Dragunov - Overall it has the best stats for the sniper rifles. Good recovery, more stable, and decent firepower. Something you can move around with. If there was a real sniper mission though, where you're laying down and staying still for a while, I'd probably choose a more accurate and powerful gun.
Aug Steyr - Amazing weapon on the Training Ground, but I really don't know about its authenticity. There's like no kick to it, and it handles like a submachine gun. I'd rather not use it, as it's a mod that seems unrealistic to me.
LMGs:
M42 is my choice I think. I generally stay away from LMGs. They are just terrible. If you want more bullets, take an extended mag, a P90, or an M12. The game seems to think that the user is literally unable to turn without being ridiculously inaccurate with an LMG. As much as a disagree with this, (They aren't THAT bad in RL) I have to stay away from them in-game. They are basically unusable if you're not staying still.
Pistol:
Desert Eagle (.357) - I have a Real life bias against other guns because I've shot regular guns and I've shot Magnum rounds. The 357 magnum packs a punch, and I always trust it to take a man down in one shot. Deagles have less ammo capacity, but they also kill more people per bullet, so I see it as a fair trade.
Mine would have to be the silenced MP5-10-A2, scoped; from Rvs: Project VI

SWAT:
=====
Glock 17 - accurate, nearly zero recoil, 17 bullets - enough to drop 4 tangos if needed.
P90 - more stopping power than the MP5, but a lot more recoil; a grateful weapon if you are used to it; 50 bullets mag makes reloading nearly unnecessary.
M4 Super 90 - devastating on unarmored targets, high rate of fire, but lots of recoil and only suitable for support due to the limitation of 5 bucks / slugs loaded at a time; I can't recommend this shotgun, but hey - I like it.
--> General advice: Train yourself on different weapons from time to time.

Track'em, find'em, kill'em!"
SWAT
handguns: 9mm glock ( nice backup weapon, not too strong not weak either )
SMG: MP5 and UMP ( this may look strange, but I prefer to use MP5 on armored targets than UMP, seems that I trust burst more than auto settings, even if weaker bullets )
assault rifles: very rarely use them, but from all I prefer M4A1 carbine, gives me accuracy that I need to solve hostage situations or just to protect element's rear )
Shotguns: on multiplayer I don't use them at all, a lot of fun with this weapon, however, in hostage situations, it's terrible, you have no chance to take out tango that is behind civillian in a distance.
I think that's all
SAS_Magnum Lance Corporal SAS 22nd Elite Virtual Regiment.
SWAT4 - MP5 and P90 with the Glock 17 as a sidearm.
When the going gets tough, the tought get going.
SMGs: UMP on auto/semi - it's the most flexible imo - powerful and accurate. Slow ROF but I haven't found that to be much of an issue. P90 is also very nice on semi, however it is poor at long distances (even on semi). I generally stay away from the MP5 because using Burst can make your shot selection quite restrictive/unflexible, whereas the Semi is underpowered imo (unless you aim for headshots).
ARs: M4, slow ROF on semi, but it is nonetheless a very well-rounded and deadly weapon.
Pistols: Glock, I haven't found a significant difference between the Glock and M1911 other than the clip size. The fact that you only have 8 clips per mag on the latter sidearm makes it rather obsolete in my eyes because I reload my primary with more shots left in it than that entire pistol mag.
As for RVS, I tend to use the M12 or MP5 on semi, most well-rounded SMGs imo, sometimes I use the UMP. Haven't used any of the other weapon types enough to form favorites.

@Yogi: What the heck is a M42?
RVS
SMG: MP5A4, MP5SD5
AR: L85A1, FNC, M82
SG: SPAS-12
SR: Dragunov
LMG: 23E
Pistol: MK23

Primary: None, they are all too slow in single fire.
Secondary: Glock17

I use the LMG so often that I don't even know what it's called
I kinda like the MP5A4, MP5SD5, L85, FNC, ARCIII, Comando, as for 2nd MK23 or FS92 and of course the Poision tip Knife, lol. Well it really depends on which map we in and How we are doin it at that time. I think some of them do better than others in certain areas.
Weapons depend on the situation and the game glitches for me.
RVS
Mp5sd and mk23 with extended mag for touchy stealth rescue
mp5a4 ump45 or m12 for normal situations with mk23sd in case I need a silent kill
If AR is better, I like the FNC or the m4
For sniping, aw covert with thermal and an sr2 machine pistol.
For general chaos, the m249 with my mk23 for backup...maybe some extra sec mags in case i'm wounded. I can usually maintain 40-60% accuracy with some effort.
SPAS12 is a great shotgun.
SWAT
MP5 fmj 3 round burst for armored tangos. Single shot around hostages.
If tangos not armored or if I'm not on point or with noobs I take ump45. Secondary is usually the 1911 variant but sometimes I'll use tazer if there are not lots of tangos and it's a smaller cqb map.

Rvs:
Ak47, is nice to me. Maybe because the wooden elements covered beyond the high power. I noticed that gun has high amount of bass in the game, and when you making speakers a little quiet, accuracy growing great.
g36, incredibly accurate - thats true. But fixed scope a little bothering.
FAL, thats the toy i always wanted to get on merry christmass. Perfect combination, except RVS's behavior

SWAT4

2)Ak47

As you see in this case, there is no alternatives for me, but sometimes I'm switching into other variations. Hell I dont know why lol.
Any situation has it\'s normal beginning
Arma 2:
M4 CCO, depending on map and mission. It could go up to an RCO/ACOG.
When I used to be in an old clans sniper team we always ran the M110 or M107. The .50 we always ran was the MK211 RAUFOSS for pure stopping power.
SWAT 4:
MP5 or UMP.
AK-47 or M4 if I'm not pointman.
RVS:
MP5, FAL, AK-47 and M4.
I don't think it really matters that much in RVS, the only real differences are between small, pistol-size calibres and rifle cartridges.
Wound ballistics hardly ever changes, accuracy is unrealistic anyhow.
My idea of CQB is running in with a sword.
There are so many, but only few do stand as my favorite though.
RVS: I haven't played it, or it was too long ago 8O
Swat 4: MP5 SD as primary, Colt Magnum as secondary.
ArmA 2: M4A1 SD CCO sighted with flashlight, IR, and camo body. Secondary SMAW with 2 HEAA 3 HEDP shells, for personal defense Makarov SD.
You could have listed more games to answer to!
General choices:
Personal defense - Makarov SD.
CQB - MAC 10 Silver platted.
Assault - M4A1 SD CCO sighted with flashlight, IR, and camo body.
Scoped rifle - AK107 Kobra (SD) PSO-1
Sniper rifle - VSS aka Vintorez (SD)
Machine Gun - M249 SAW with 200 belt drums.
Launcher - SMAW
You may notice I prefer SD weapons, that's because my weakness is CQB and large amounts of infantry, that's where SMAW HEDP comes in to back me up

Lol. I'm being mocked!
I meant the M249 LMG
Lol !
SAS_Magnum Lance Corporal SAS 22nd Elite Virtual Regiment.
LOL
I prefer small caliber and therefore usually take the following weapons (ordered by appropriate fighting range):
Swat4:
Glock17
MP5 (suppressed if needed; mostly on 3 round burst, single shot just for large distance or hostage situation)
M4 (automatic mode, semi again just for long distance)
GB36 (pretty rarely, has more power than the M4 but the lack of a semi fire mode makes it hard to use at long range)
RvS:
Pistol:
P-228 (+silencer if needed)
SMG:
MP5A4 (+scope incase there are some medium range areas)
MP5SD (+scope)
AR:
AUG (+ silencer)
M4 (+scope or +silencer)
G36 (+silencer)
Sniperrifle:
AW Covert (+ infrared vision)
PSG1 (+ infrared vision)
Nice one WIZ!

well i like all but what i like most is M12 its really Useful for situations where I want more bullets or have to take out a lot of tangos at once.
