Movies

Hey, spent some hours today, just searching interesting stuff and discovered a movie named "Bravo.Two.Zero". Anyone heard of it ? Also watched "Band of Brothers" today and "pacific". Can anyone suggest a similar good movie like these over here?

Those are still on my list to re-watch because I forgot everything about them. Recently I watched "The Longest Day" (with John Wayne), I liked it.

Ever seen Saving Private Ryan? It's a must I think Smile

As far as war movies go...Letters From Iwo Jima was a really nice one. Flags of Our Fathers was suppose to accompany it although I didn't enjoy it nearly as much. You might want to check them both out though!

Schindler's List (since we're on the topic of WWII) and Black Hawk Down are nice ones as well! Dirol

Hey there!

I recommend Enemy At The Gates, a very good movie, in my opinion!

I'd also recommend some of the Tom Clancy ones such as 'Clear and Present Danger' and 'Hunt for the Red October'.

'Under Seige' and 'Executive Decision' were pretty good too and quite informative for CT ops on boats and aircraft.

It is hard to name one single best-movie...

...but here's the list of my everlasting favourites:
---------------------------------------------------------

Highlander part I - There can be only one
("Hey - it's a kind of magic...")

The Crow
("But sometimes - not very often - a crow brings the dead restless souls back to life to set the things right..."

First Knight
("A man who fears nothing, is a man who loves nothing...")

A Knight's Tale
("Each man can set his stars new - you have to believe!"

Point Break
("I caught my first tube this morning, Sir!")

Face off
("Look - this can happen when consuming drugs...")

Pirates of the Caribbean: The curse of the Black Pearl
("Bring me to the horizon...")

Gladiator
("Is Rome worth the life of one good man? We believed that a long time ago. Manage, that we can believe again. He was a soldier of Rome. Salute him!")

DUKE, Germany

"What's the plan?
Track'em, find'em, kill'em!"

Lord of The Rings trilogy - ( find it pretty interesting ),
Gladiator - ( kinda drama, but with nice and meaningful story line ),
Avatar - ( pretty much based on fantasy, was ok ),
Scary movie series - ( some things are stupid, indeed, but it may uplift you ).

There are many more that I can't remember at the moment...

I suggest:
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Italian Job, (not what you think) made in 2003 but not a war movie.
The Punisher, made in 2004 you'd probably like this movie.

"Bravo Two Zero" was interesting to watch, especially since I think Sean Bean is pretty badass. It's based on a book written by Andy McNab. It's interesting to see them deal with a mission that's gone completely wrong.

"Armadillo" was very interesting for me to watch because I am from Denmark myself. I remember there was quite a stir about some of the insurgents in the film having been killed even though they had surrendered.

I second "Letters From Iwo Jima", that is a powerful war movie. It's a bit similar to "Bravo Two Zero" in the sense that we are seeing the Japanese on the brink of defeat, some trying to make it through alive and some killing themselves.

SEAN BEAN.

I have to watch this movie...

On a side note, are there any other great SEAN BEAN movies tthat I have yet to watch?

Hmm, well, the Lord of The Rings is a must of course, Sean Bean portrays someone who actually thinks like a real person does, unlike some of the other characters.

I remember this movie called "The Hitcher" which is a remake of an old Rutger Hauer movie I believe. It's basically about these two college kids who are being hunted by Sean Bean being the bad guy.

Speaking of bad guys, he wasn't too bad as 006 in GoldenEye either, also a must in my book.

And he's also been in two great shows, "Sharpe", where he plays the main character who is an English soldier during the napoleonic wars, and "Game of Thrones" where the plays the Lord of Winterfell, Eddard Stark. Due to the badassery of the title of his character alone, I don't think I have to explain any further.

There's also a movie set in the middle ages called "Black Death" which was an interesting watch. It's basically about a town which hasn't been touched by the bubonic plague yet and it seems like it's the work of a witch, so these men set out to see what's going on there.

Also, Carice Van Houten who plays the witch in "Black Death" also starred in a movie called "Black Book" which might be of the interest to fans of World War 2-movies.

Unfortunately, Andy McNab has a reputation for talking out of his proverbial. In fact, many of his teammates who were there have since come out and admitted he greatly exaggerated his claims.

Agreed Mannanin, there are actually 3 books written on the story by differant authors, telling 3 differant stories. Also there was a documentary presented by (dont quote me) the SAS captain at the time, i think it was called 'the real bravo two zero'
Of course, by nature of the beast..Only the people that were there will know what really happened. But if you want light hearted drama, i suppose its ok, just as long as you dont believe a word of it.
