I have also been considering, I was hearing Random Yogi and Ade playing in TS yesterday and it sounded fun... also Grumpoo, I haven't had the chance to play with you. Whenever you're on xfire please feel free to message me so we can have a few rounds!

The game engine is way better in RVS and you have a mix of open areas and close quarter battle. In S4, almost everything is CQB. As WIZ said, it's quicker in RVS. I play both games but I do prefer RVS for the increase challenge it has and u can probably buy the gold pack (RVS and athena sword) for less than 10$.
I've always been more of a SWAT player. Played RVS quite a bit when I got it initially, but slowly I began to creep back to SWAT as my favored game.
The change of pace however can be nice so I play RVS every now and then too. The larger weapon selection and the fact that double tap actually works is nice - however I've just grown too use to SWAT, probably because I played it for so long before even touching RVS.
Another major difference between the two is how you lead. In RVS, at the least a basic plan/route is drawn out on the floorplan before the round (when SAS members are on), in SWAT as you know we like to give out orders on the move.
I'd recommend you to get RVS because both are quality tactical FPS and we have PGs on both, but odds are since SWAT was your first game, in the end you'll still like it better.

I personally like the special tactical challenges in swat.
First thing are the RoE. Even using the pretty aggresive RoE of your proving ground you still are not allowed to shoot every tango on sight. On other servers RoE are more "soft". That creates the constant challange of shooting if and only if necessary but never too late
Next thing is that tangos surrender pretty often. So you have to take a room and stay in control of it. The team must keep on covering the room itself until everyone is cuffed. Imo this is often more difficult than just shoot every tango while clearing and move on to the next room quickly.
Third thing are the bunch of hostages around the map. It's not always visible on first sight, who is tango and who is civ. Futhermore some running civs during a shoot-out make things kinda interesting
Advantages of RvS were already mentioned:
- huge arsenal of weapons, weapon modifications
- faster than swat
- different enviroments
(swat is almost only CQB, but weapons in swat act sometimes really weird on long distances anyway)
right click on the exe, select the option 'compatibility' then select 'xp sp3' then select 'run as admin' and apply those changes....your game shall now run from the power of the WIZ

Get RvS. We don't get as many recruits from Ravenshield as Swat
Rvs 4 ever..still the best tactical shooter ever released (after Rogue Spear) SWAT3/4 are good too but they are lil different than Rvs
S4 is basically the same game, except everything happens quicker in Rvs..get on the treadmill in preperation for Rvs

With the new mappack SWAT has now also several outdoor maps...
A big plus of SWAT is randomised tango-spawn...
...and most important: on SWAT is ALWAYS tactical teamplay with formation and loadout

As far as i know, Rvs will run on any new pc. My rig is running Win7 64 bit, ultimate...and it runs fine in xp compatibility mode as admin.
