Choose the winner from the AFC Championship and tell us why you think so.

The match up is:
Baltimore@New England

Lol you would Random...

DEN@NE - On paper Pats should be an easy pick, especially given the way they played last time against Denver. Only thing on the Broncos side is the Tebow effect, but the luck has to run out eventually and despite NE's poor defense, Brady will be too much to handle.

HOU@BAL - Two great defenses/two great RBs, it comes down to the QBs. Joe Flacco is nothing special but can a rookie 5th round QB really beat the Ravens defense? I doubt it, I'm going with Baltimore.

Although i don't really follow the NFL but i think the Patriots will win.

if you look at the paper they are miles ahead in touchdowns and are on an 8 game winning streak.

Denver was Te-boned during the last match up with Denver couging up the ball left and right in the second half--and that was when they played in Denver. It's very difficult to beat the Patriots in Foxboro and they are on a big win streak right now. Denver's only hope is to jump out to a big lead early while NE's defense is struggling through their usually bad first half. Again, this didn't really work out for the Broncos last time because their defense was unable to handle the second half offensive tidal wave. For the Patriots to have an easy day, they just need to stay relatively close to Denver in the first half and walk away from the Broncos in the second half when NE outscores opponents greater than 3 to 1.

Baltimore should beat Houston and I expect a Baltimore vs New England match up will be very difficult on the Patriots. If they are to win the AFC they must perform well on both sides of the ball. If they do that vs. Baltimore, then they are peaking at the right time and deserve to go to the Super Bowl. If not, then they will have gotten about as far as their flacid defense could bring them.

Who would ever think anyone would take Denver?
Tebow has already gone down this road once at home and it seemed all
the hype was squashed by all the turnovers in the second half.
He is not the quarterback he was in that game and will prove so tonight in
Foxboro.. While the Bronco offense is not as potent as the Patriot offense,
aka "Tom (The Man) Brady" the Denver defense is one of the best in the
game today. The game will go down to who has the ball last and if Tebow
has the ball he will prove he belongs... Sorry Patriot fans but Denver wins
and I think the final score will be Denver - 24 and Patriots - 21
The Broncos win on a late field goal.
Teeeee - Bowwwww oh yea......
There is another game tomorrow in Baltimore.... whoever wins (Ravens)
they will be Tebowed next....LoL
Yes I believe in Tebow, win or loose !!!

The only problem with that logic is that I don't see any defense holding Tom Terrific to just 21 points and I don't see Denver scoring more than 21-24 points. That will make it very unlikely that Denver advances unless New England turns the ball over. Patriots don't run much, so that means Brady will have to throw multiple interceptions or someone will have to cough up the ball on punt or kick off returns. Also, unlikely since Wes Welker has taken over both of those responsibilities lately.

Someone critical to New England success will have to sustain an injury for NE to lose this game.

3 hrs until kick off. Then I hope I don't have to hear about Tim Tebow until football season starts up in the fall!

[quote="SAS_JB" the Denver defense is one of the best in the

They gave up almost 100 points to NE in two games.
Pats terrible defense was more than Tebow could handle. No contest.
The Ravens will have to wait until next season to face Timmy T. I hope today's game is a good one to watch.

Gotta go with the Pats...especially with how good they looked last week and really how dominant they have been at home this season in general. The Ravens defense has become overrated, they aren't nearly as good as they once were and I doubt they will be able to stop Tom Brady to the point where their offense can allow them to win.

Even if the Ravens D manages to hold Brady somewhat, I question whether their offense would be able to take advantage. Joe Flacco's upside is very limited. As bad as the Pats defense is, in terms of points allowed they're 15th - not great but by no means bad. Playing against a team without their star QB (and star LB) and having to rely on a 5th round rookie, the Ravens only barely beat the Texans.

I know you all believe the Ravens blew the game, but both sides missed good scoring opportunities in the game.

Consider these statements...

The Patriots have a "terrible" defense that gives up 20 points per game. Today, the Ravens scored 20 points.
Everyone thinks Flacco had a great game scoring 20 points against New England's terrible defense.
Brady had a terrible game against the "best" defense in the NFL.
Brady put up 23 points.
Brady wins.
Flacco goes home to shave off his porn star mustache.
Brady goes home to rest for two weeks before he tries to win his 4th Super Bowl.

Now think about this...
When was the last time Brady had two bad games in a row?

Hmm...I don't think I can agree with "the Ravens blew the game". Even with the field goal, it would have been just a tie game, advantage in my mind would still have been New England.

As for the statements, like I said a few days ago...

The Ravens defense has become overrated, they aren't nearly as good as they once were and I doubt they will be able to stop Tom Brady to the point where their offense can allow them to win.

As bad as the Pats defense is, in terms of points allowed they're 15th - not great but by no means bad.

Time to get ready for the Super Bowl...should be a good one!
