Many years ago I started with the first NFS and NFS 2 (Hot Pursuit) if I remember right. Later I played NFS Underground 1 & 2 and ended with NFS Most Wanted.
Now a good friend of mine made me a present with NFS - HOT PURSUIT. It's a cool game and makes lots of fun.
I thought about some private races with you. If you have the game, you maybe wanna ad me as a friend --> SAS_DUKE
If you can't beat me in SWAT - maybe you can escape with a sportscar...

oh nice any good features in it? cause lately NFS has been trying to make it self more of a driving simulator then a racing simulator.

It's just an arcade-racer-game, but as simple it is, it makes lots of fun. Singleplayer is easy - the real challenge is the Multiplayer where you drive against up to 7 other humans, being a racer or a cop.
There are the following game-types in MP:
1. drive against other racers
2. single race: 1 cop + 1 racer
3. HOT PURSUIT: up to 8 players are balanced by the server between cops and racers
The game features the most exclusive and most fast cars: BMW, Porsche, Dodge Viper (love this car) and so on...
On Cop-side you have some tools and can call backup to bring order to chaos:
- spike-belts (racers: same)
- EMP-launcher (racers: same)
- street-barriers
- jammer (only racers)
- helicopter which drops spike-belts (racers: jammer)
- turbo-boost (only racers)
See you on the road.

The racers can use spikes strips and EMP launcher? Usualy it's the cops that use that not the on road cowboys

I might get it as well: I always enjoyed racing games but usualy I prefer them on consoles rather that on computers.

Thanks for good games, Nick - we had lots of fun
As a sidenote: Why does everybody ask me if I beat you?!?
You can't compare this game with any other racing game, where you race against others.
When playing in the mode HOT PURSUIT with friends it's a lot of fun and real thrilling - especially if you are the racer and getting hunted by Nick...
Concerning the thrill - just imagine this scene: You are running a two-way road at highspeed, in front you see the police-lights of a street-barrier, the cop crashes slightly in the back of your car and makes your car a little slinger, over police-radio you hear the call for a police-helicopter with spikebelts...
Looks like GAME OVER...
But then you release a spikebelt yourself, make the cop crash, break through this pretty small opening in the barrier, evade the spikebelt of the helicopter and get away...
--> and smile for yourself --> YES
Hope I could bring you the gameplay a little closer and make you hot for more. It's worth to get this game and same as Nick, I would love to have a BIG HOT PURSUIT with you all.

Good to hear from you Chester! I'll give credit to DUKE as well since hes a very hard suspect to bust. When you're the cop and trying to hit him with an EMP, he makes a 180, dodge it and head right for you to take you down with his own EMP!
I had a blast playing with DUKE and I hope some ppl in this community will race with us.

A tip for our German racers:
In order to minimize the annoying textmessages (spreading nearly over the entire screen) during a hot pursuit, put the controller of "RANDSKALIERUNG" to a minimum.
It's not the best solution, but helps to see a little bit more of the road...

DeCapi: the hardest is not to curse lol

*** UPDATE ***
Figured out the best solution to minimize all that useless textmessages in order to have a free view on the road.
Change your game into english language as follows:
Start / execute / regedit
go for --> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Electronic Arts \ Need for Speed(TM) Hot Pursuit
change to "Locale"="en"
change to "Language"="English"
go to the file-folder "1.0" and change to "LanguageName"="English"
close regedit
It works perfect now

Any idea how to fix that problem: when I press a key that is not binded, a big black box appears in the middle of the screen saying to go in the settings to bind that key. Anyone know how to get rid of that message of appearing?

my NFS is still not connecting to the EA server, i don't even know how to register NFS to my EA account.
its bizarre cause I've added it to my firewall exceptions and allowed it past my Internet security.

Maybe one of these links work out for you, Ade:
--> http://www.ehow.com/how_8049842_connect-ea-servers.html
--> http://www.ehow.com/how_6570082_register-ea-online.html
"Do I need to create a new account to play NFS Hot Pursuit PC online?
To play NFS Hot Pursuit PC online you need an EA Account with an associated EA ID.If you have an EA Account and you know your EA ID you can enter this on the initial login screen along with your password and so you don't need to try creating a new account.
If you don't know the EA ID associated with the account you can find out by visiting http://support.ea.com On that page select 'My Account' and enter your e-mail address and password if prompted. Once logged in select 'My Account' again. Your EA ID will be listed on your 'EA Account Manager' page.
If you have an EA Account but don't have an EA ID associated with it (for example you created the account by playing the console version of NFS Hot Pursuit) then you can add an EA ID to that account by going through the 'Create Account' flow and specifying the e-mail address and password for your EA Account. Be sure to enter the correct information in the other fields as your account will be updated with that information.
If you don't have an EA Account then you will need to create a new one. The account you created can then be used in lots of other EA games as well as on http://www.EA.com and http://eastore.ea.com"
Nick, I didn't find anything concerning your black-screen. You said that problem only appears when alt-tab to xfire and back?
