Pet Blog

The family just got a Beagle pup on Wednesday. His name is Archer. He's currently 9 weeks old. He's a tri-color beagle with a black back and white legs and tail tip. He has a brown mask with a white stripe between his eyes and around the nose.

He seems to be very happy, but he doesn't like to be away from us for any length of time.

The first night, he slept well when we put him to bed. We were thinking, this is easy!

Day two he went the entire night without wetting the papers and did his business properly all day with no mistakes! This is going great!

Last night, however, he kept baying for about an hour before finally settling down. He repeated that behavior every couple of hours until 0600 when I got up. I'm sooooo tired right now.

Lots of decisions to make about food, etc. I spent more time last week looking into the different foods available. I never spend that long thinking about what I eat, lol.

We have it down to two choices: Nutro Ultra or Wellness.

Does anyone have any insight on either or have a beagle pup?

Or if you would like to introduce your pet to the team, go ahead.

I think this could be an interesting thread if people participate!

Check out the gallery. I've posted a picture.

My wife demanded we get a puppy two months ago. As always, I said no way, since I don't care for pets.

So, the following week we were on our way to get a puppy. It was a putbull-lab, and it cost us a few hundred bucks. He's about 8 months old now. Everyone I know has said pedigree is the best dog food - even though it looks really plain, so we feed him that.

He is a nuisance sometimes - he thinks that biting doesn't hurt, and he thinks if he does his business while no one is looking then he can get away with it. But I do like taking him for hikes in the mountains - no one else in my family can keep up with me!

Safe to say that your dog is fairly large, eh? I know some people who feed their dogs pedigree. I think they have retrievers. Post a picture of your dog in the gallery if you want. It would be cool to see everyone's pets.

A Beagle named Archer... it is a Star Trek reference isn't it?

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Yes, Captain Archer's beagle was named Porthos, but I couldn't do that to the poor animal. So we decided to flip it around, hehe.

Our chinchilla's name is Tribble. Can you figure that out?

Me and the wife are actually about to spend 500 on Siberian Husky. Naming it JBEAR. JB for short. Its Red and white with blue eyes. Once Im able to I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how.

EDIT:

Pedigree is a good brand. Even for small dogs. If not mistaken I think they make Pedigree Small Breed. At least according to their website they do. But from personal experience its a good brand.

Military life is having a plan. Then a new plan. Then another plan. Then the first plan. Then a brand new plan only to go back to the 2nd plan.

I used to deliver the beef to one of the Pedigree factories, and you know what..it actually has to be of a higher grade than human beef !!

Ok,
The really important thing in puppy chow is that it has an adequate supply of USABLE protein. Some protein is not processed properly so total protein is not always a good indicator. Growth is a major issue at this time so protein is important. I know PURINA Kitten Chow is up to the job because I worked on the research project back in the 70's. I would presume they put the same level of care into their Puppy Chow products, but can not verify it.

I can haz plai wit puppy tales?

I think Kirk knew tribbles well, I have a Golden Ret named Buck by the boys but his real name on paper is (Ten of Ten), He is one of the smartest dogs I ever seen, He understands quite a few words and hand commands along with bein able to identify three colors, He is also a Moma's baby, I will try to put up his pic.
