Record section

Tonight we (WIZ, Valroe, Scout, Eder and I) thought of doing a section to put the SAS map records. Of course there will be rules to beat a record to not do headless chickens records. If you have ideas or comments for a section like this it would be nice that you post them here.

A headless game hen record should suffice. A pheasant perhaps?

My only suggestion is requiring an officer to observe it :-P.

Most time members say, "Lets break a record", I see people who would fail a trooper tryout.

Record breaking isnt a certain members only concept. All can attend and take part. Its supposed to be fun, lets not take that away by having to overthink this and debate SOPs.

I think it's a good idea to try to set up and beat records. It will be useful to train our dynamic teamplay. And yes, it will be fun. And no, i dont think we need an observer, as i have full faith in every SAS member that he can play the game in a proper way.

If you can't set the record doing it the [SAS] way, it's not an [SAS] record. If the [SAS] way isn't fun, then either you're in the wrong team or dealing with people who are.

Once again, no record should be a headless chicken tango hunt with everyone bouncing off the walls Biggrin Wink

I joined the SAS to have some fun games with friends, and also because SAS is the best. Playing (the SAS way) is second nature (or should be) to all SAS players, although we are all people and we do make mistakes some times or have an off day... I think we've all been there. Our regular players also play the SAS way, maybe just not with so much ease or finesse as what SAS players do.

If we need an observer to make sure that the SAS plays the SAS way... I don't know.. what can I say?

May i suggest a supervisor for the observer, as the observer might do any mistakes in observing.... and maybe we would also need a super-supervisor to supervise the supervisor to be sure we get everything nailed down...

Let me clear this up also; By no means should my objection to an officer or observer as a SET RULE be seen as a condoning of Crappy gameplay. Its an objection to the questioning of SAS member integrity. Otherwise there should be an officer or observer in everything we do. And that is what Im saying is no fun. It has nothing to do with wanting to deviate from SOPs. Hope I've cleared that up.

I've no reason to question a members integrity, if they said the made the time and didn't, then IMHO it would be our collective failure for letting a fibber through the SC in one piece \o/. But hey, if it's going to get published in a formal hall of records for the whole wide world to see -- just as we have troopers we're proud of on the mighty page instead of every Tom, Dick, and Harry that walks into a game server, there has to be some level of standard involved ;).

Recruits are expected to score a 98% on a trooper tryout before they may call themselves one of the mighty [SAS], I see no reason an official record shouldn't have to stand up to the same rigour. Setting an official record should be for the glory of their regiment, not getting their names in lights; and I see no members with delusions of grandeur, just a humble idea. That, or I am going blind in me old age!

On reflection, this is causing far too much debate. I will scrap the idea. It was meant to inspire fun times...Not a General Election!!!

Why should we scrap the idea. It looks to me as if most of as agree in the point that this was meant to be a fun thing to do, and not a super serious event. After all we are not the real SAS, we are a couple of guys playing games.

This is a great idea, itll add a new dimension to the current gameplay. and i do believe with time itll help improve overall skill, not only that its an added motivational influence to improve. ive seen "beat record time" in alot of games, and its always a good thing Biggrin

I think itll reinforce the idea of "speed surprise and aggression" infact i think this is a really good way to train for that since most of us already have the basics drilled into us.

i think one way of policing this would be to have it so only "TG" records count, i wouldnt include PG for several reasons, of which i dont need 2 go into here.

Just do it and enjoy it. I can't imagine any SAS member, let alone a team with many members, falsifying an accomplishment. What would be the point?
