I just made another series of failed attempts to install SWAT 4 on my computer. It's a 6 yr old P4.

The autorun start brings up the options, including INSTALL but does not recognize the CD in the drive...ok, but the options came off THAT DISK. Hello, UBISOFT? I couldn't click that INSTALL button if the DISK 1 was not already in the drive and accessible.
Ok, so I opened the SWAT 4 Disk 1 folder and clicked the install.exe and the install starts and runs until it requests Disk 2. Then it refuses to recognize Disk 2 as being in the drive. But Disk 2 can't be started from an .exe file like Disk 1 so that ends the install. The computer sees both Disk 1 and Disk 2. The SWAT program does not until I manually activate the Install.exe on disk 1.
Next step was to make all the files in the folders on both Disk 1 & 2 compatible with Win98. Same result.
Do any of you computer gurus know if i can manually transfer the Disk 2 files into the SWAT 4 game folder on my HD? I have not seen the installed game on my HD so I do not know what files go where.

It's likely an issue with reading the data off the disks; might want to check for scratches and clean them, as well as the drives. The copy protection technology used by SWAT 4 can make this even harder then it has to be.
The registry entries and anti-piracy stuff aside, all it really should need is extracting the data out of CABs and setting up permissions. It's been a while since I looked at disk two, and the last time I bothered worrying was when I installed SWAT 4+TSS on GNU/Linux a long time ago. The most important stuff that gets done, is done by the game during the first run; in fact, you must run the game before you install the patch, and run it again before you install TSS.
I keep my files archived plus a set of registry keys and no CD that need doing, which should in theory allow quick reinstalls from backup on my local machine, lol.
