I think within ~10 years time, things like email, msn, skype, and muuch more as we know it will become dinosaurs or the Wave Protocol will die an innovative fate. Just imagine what it would be like, to not have to shuffle between E-Mail, Office, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo!, Xfire, AOL, Skype, etc.... it would be freaking awesome, the Internet as it was envisioned will could start to become part of our future.

So far this looks as sexy as a Lamborghini and a Ferrari combined, I think I'm having a geekasm!!!

Forums were a logical evolution of software, dating as far back as pre-imperial Rome :-P.

Interoperability between services as this point, is a royal pain in the neck - something like Wave would correct that.

Now all you have to do is find a way to stop Google from data mining everything u mail, post, say, type, phone, etc. and sell it to someone who will add it to your world portfolio and sell it to someone else and you really have something. Personally, I would feel like a Soviet using the KGB as my phone exchange....oh, wait, they did.

Until Windows 7 gains an "Open Source Edition" purchasing option, I think I will worry about Googles data mining as much as upgrading my gaming computer in the coming (Windows 8/DirectX12) years.
