For those few battletech and mechwarrior fans in our merry band, I was dropping by the website of a clan I used to be friendly with back in my meching days, and I found this news on their forum:

OH MY GOD - a new MW game with an up-to-date graphic engine - it looks damn good.
I loved the old games, played MW3, MW4, MW mercenaries and MechCommander2.
I never thought, they would bring another game of this series.
Looking forward - where is my joystick ??
Ok, I'm excited. How excited? I was just sitting here thinking of walking into my bedroom and reinstalling MW4V .........before I read this post. I've never played it with the new hardware in this computer...mainly a videocard upgrade....old but plenty hot for MW4V.
Thanks for info, Spidey.

Oh and for fellows who have played MW4: I've heard that MekTek has the rights to, and will be releasing a free ISO of MW4:Mercs plus the Clan/IS packs with the latest MekTek MekPak 3.xx installed some time in the future, and they are making MekPak 4.0 lol.
Okay...First glanze for me, but worth looking into more...Thx
Looks Pretty Cool.

Any updates - found nothing new, just blablabla ...
It's been a couple months since I read the developers blog, but it would be the #1 place for updates. I can't seem to find a link to the blog now :-/.
In September Harmony Gold started to give people flak over the Warhammer in the trailer (it's basically a rip off of the Destroid Tomahawk from Macross/Robotech; like several other 'Mechs), but unless they've had their pants publically sued off and I've been under a rock, I don't think it's caused to much damage, other then the forbidden 'Mechs of old will likely to remain forbidden.
To my knowledge, Microsoft is also involved in the 'delays' for releasing MW4 for free, but owning a full stack of disks, I haven't kept up with that deal either.
Ah - too bad. I dragged out my old MW4-mercenaries and played some hours. The graphic standard is no longer acceptable, but the gameplay and the combination of dealing with chassis, parts and pilots on the one hand and tactical gameplay on the other is great. Time for a new MW will come hopefully ...
If you install the MekTek MekPaks (free downloads), you gain a number of new 'Mechs and weapons, most of which are much higher quality graphics then the originals. When me and my friends got out of it, there were perhaps 35-45 new 'Mechs added, and BattleArmours like the Elemental had just been hacked in. The MekTek folks also host the online server browser now.
I have copies of MechWarrior 3, MechWarrior 3: Pirate's Moon expansion, Mech Warrior 4: Vengeance, MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries, and the Clan+Inner Sphere 'Mech paks for MW4. Only ones missing are copies of MechWarrior, Mech Warrior 2: 31st Century Combat and Mech Warrior 2: Mercenaries :'(. Some where is even a game that implements much of the classic BattleTech game.
It's been ages since I've played Mech Warrior 4, but I still remember plenty ;).
I haven't been able to find any news about the new MechWarrior game, other then that Micro$oft seems to be holding up MW4 yet again.
From the sounds of things, I expect the 'Mechs they stole from Macross (Warhammer, Marauder, etc) will be cut from the new game, or they will take years of legal chatter to pull it off \o/.
