Man, I have rescued and assisted some british commandos in our mountains during winter traiing, only -2

August 96, +15 at a fighter plane base in the middle of Norway. A F-16 squadron from Alabama was there during a millitary exercise. They was wearing those big winter clothes we use when -40.

Recruit academy, it was -30 to -40, most of my squad was sissy boys from Oslo aera. Me hillebilly from the mountains. I was the only one who was warm, hahahaha.

Valroe, when are we going to Svalbard for a snowmobile track for 14 days? Btw, today it was only -35 there, -31 yesterday.

I've so got to visit Norway someday, lol! The worst weather I've ever seen is around -11C and half a foot of snow (that only counts as snow, if you grew up where 32 C was a cool day).

Here in quebec we have a lot of snow, temperature is not that bad we get sometimes -30 but usually -18 (I'm playing hockey outside with a sweat shirt and I feel very warm at that temperature lol). In the middle of canada it happens a lot -40 and lower Brrrr! But they don't get a lot of snow.

Being British cold is a state of mind, we English came into this world wet, cold, and hungary. So the cold doesnt both us.

Ive been to Norway on a excerise and the cold is Sharper than a huntmens knife. Norsk Soldiers are hardened to the cold. When we soldiers go there we have Norwegain soldiers tell us that the area that we train in they grew up and was taught how to ski.

Different culture ! They get my respect !

It`s not hehe. But Wind has very much influence. -10 can become -30 if you have enough wind.

Speaking of freezing your ass off, try the Norwegian school of winter warfare a couple of times.

How much your body really can handle is insane. You think you are dying, (Yes i have told my squadleader I thought was dying, but he was busy walking and sleeping at the same time lol) but in reality you can still push yourself so much more.

Try this:

-30
Snow blizzard
The snowmobile breaks down......
GPS broken, you have no idea where you are
You can only see about 30m in front of you, all is white

Its night time....

Freaking cold.... you have to survive

Ambu, you saved a life there, and trained him well. That story was one of the first (of many lol) he told me.

There is an Eskimo saying:
When you have gone as far as you can, when you are exausted and feel like dying. Then you have made a halfway journey your body can take.

hehe some nice stories around here Smile
I still regret not beeing with my unit to the nsww, but only one squad was sent there and they were stuck in a blizzard for about 4 days xD
Last wednesday it had around -20 here in the middle of germany, but there was no wind and with the promise to get some sleep in a warm bed it was still endurable.
I am glad that i have some good gloves, otherwise my fingers would still stick on the blank metal of my gun xD

You can coop with alot if you just keep moving, unless it's warm heh Smile

I rather be around -30 then +30 Fool

We don't get that low temps here anymore even if it can be down to -30 C once in a while. But I love the north and the cold weather Smile

Perhaps it takes a wiking! And possibly a Russian but thats probebly because Wikings "visited" the country and helped them out a bit Wink
