What do you work with/study?

There are lots of members in this clan I have no clue about what are working with or studying in real life.

Non-SAS you are welcome to write it down as well.

What do you all do??

Well lets see...

I have been working in prisons since June 13th 1988. I am currently a Captain in rank, I have just over 15 years operational experience in CQB tactical engagements. I have studied, Karate, Coga, Ju-Jitsu, Aikido and now I am studing Hapkido (Korean) and I go for my Blue belt soon.

I am married (still) and have 2 kids and 2 cats.

Despite being no longer active in the field I continue to study CQB engagements and keep my mental skills active through my cyber life at SAS. I love paintball and enjoy studing the movements of another player just before I kill him !

Yeah, I think that pretty much covers it. Oh and yes, I am old, but not the oldest here, still have to respect a few elder to me !

I work as a paramedic. At that job I teach and guide other EMT's and paramedics in how the perform their jobs skill wise and attitude wise etc... But the primary objective is to be there as a team for the patient... and hopefully save some of them also.

My second job I organize and promote first aid classes for the Red Cross. I manage the instructor group and maintain their quality. Hopefully I will get promoted there and start to work as first aid director in a new nation wide company owned by Red Cross. I will get that answer within some weeks.

My "third" job is as Sgt for the great 22 EVR. To bad I cant make money on it, cause I would love to have that as my 100% job.

I also study. I study girls hehehehehe

I put criminals behind bars for a living.

As one of the King's prosecutors, it is my job to contribute to punish the guilty, and per the innocent off the hook. I have mostly been working with aggrevated violence, vice and homicide. Leading police investigations in a good, old crime mystery, is both interesting, brain challenging and exiting. Taking the crime into the courtroom, and present the facts in an easy-to-understand manner, and fighting aggressive defense solicitors, is quite challenging too.

I also serve in our territorial army, and have done so for 21 years. I started as an artillery observer, sending grids to the howitzers and then put on ear protection when the shells came in overhead. I moved on to a military unit with Close Protection as main task. I have also been abroad on NATO-missions, and worked closely with officers from the Nordic countries, UK, Germany, Canada, US and even Russia.

Now, I serve approx 30 days a year, mostly weekends. I have retired from the most active duty, and I am now in the operations branch as chief current ops in a well-equipped and highly motivated task force-unit.

Neither being an officer or a prosecutor earn respect at home. I have a Mrs Rouge, several Miss Rouges, a female Cat Rouge -- and my respectful companion: Tango the dog.

What do I work with, as in what I get paid to work with... A swiffer duster, can of EndDust, a magic eraser, windex, clorox, rags, and paper towels lol.

What I work with and study, but don't get paid for... I'm a self-educat(ed/ing) geek of computers specializing in computer science and software engineering matters.

Some years ago I started to teach myself to program using C++, and started to pick up many other languages. Most of my time outside of SAS is spent using PCs running a BSD Unix based operating system; writing code in vim while chatting with friends. A lot of the stuff I work on coding are front end / back end style applications, creating filters for processing data, and designing tools to get things done eaiser.

I have an intense interest in compilers, communications protocols, and systems; I would very much like to formally study mathematics and telecommunication /networking stuff one day... but that's unlikely to happen in my life time.

My idea of the perfect future: an equally geeky girl by my side and several kids Wink

I maintain a near omni-presence habit of checking several forums several times daily:

sasclan.org -- this forum
forums.pcbsd.org -- pc-bsd support forum
daemonforums.org -- forum for BSD Users

And formally a few others on various matters. Most of my time on the computer side of forums, is generally spent trying to help people with unix issues, and when possible to be aware of things that may bite me later (e.g. the 64-Bit version of nVidia drivers for FreeBSD suck, but the 32-Bit ones are fine).

I'm also a proud member of The Mighty [SAS] 22nd Elite Virtual Regiment. Currently serving as a Warrant Officer Class One and assigned to Webmaster duties.

Training people for and taking part in "serious" tactical games as a team, is one of my joys past and present. I also try to conduct myself in a mature and professional manor, inside of the virtual world and out in the real world, and probably owe that to being apart of this team.

As you see from my current sig, I was a airforce guy. I was serving in 338 fighterplane sqv in 96 as a medic. I did a lot of training with the MP's and dog unit to make the time fly. We also trained with the sqv's anti terror unit.

I had a 2 year contract with NATO's IRF, bu I quit just before they got deployed to Italy. Sad

did some service in the territorial army as a medic and in a special group who attacked positions during exercises. That was a lot of fun.

About 20 years ago, I participated in a survival-camp in our local woods - so much about military-experience... Blum 3

When I was young I made several things like canyoning and climbing.

A favourite of mine are Middle-Age-markets. The really best event is the Knight-tournament in Bavaria --> http://www.ritterturnier.de (the homepage is in german, but you'll find there many pics...) Wink

With the age of 21 I joined my fathers company, which was founded by my grandfather in 1932.

In 2004 I took over leadership in the third generation. We are producing high-quality silverchains (basic, fantasy and hand-made) for the german and international market.

It is a very busy and challenging job and I am often on business-trips in order to present and sell my products. The time left I spend with friends and gaming.

I am nearly 36 years old, being single and fine with it most of the time... Dirol

Hello, I was told I should let people get to know me by posting in the forums, so I choose this topic for my first post!

I have nowhere near as much military experience as most of you, I was in the RAFs' training group - the ATC, when I was 15, learned basics of piloting and got experience with .22 calibre rifle, but I quit and after high school pursued a career in music. I got a higher national certificate from college and am currently in 3rd year at uni studying for a degree in popular music.

I haven't had much military experience, but I have been described as the best guitarist in Scotland on several occasions :O if I'm not boasting too much Blum 3
