Tactical question

I was doing the homework that medic told me to do (read tactics on the website starting with beginners strats). In the bang and clear section, it is written that 3rd guy on a 4 man element bang and in game i have been told that cover man (2nd man) bang.

Can someone tell me wich one is right or both are correct?

Hey Nick

I the Old SOPs (new is on its way) In a larg element (more than 4) it the best way to get a higer number of gunns fast in to the room when 3# man bangs. That leves 1# and 2# man ready to engage enemyes faster than if 2# throws the bang. But in a 3 man element 2# throws because 3# covers the rear. There is nothing wrong in having 2# man throwing the bang.

In this concept Nick, i have worked with having #2 banging, so that there is a better chance of a good bang, instead of having a high risk of a bad nade throw...also #2 doesn't have to leave the formation to be able to throw the bang like #3 does, he has to move out further and may open himself up for a line of fire by the suspect...if this is done though, you have to make sure that #2 is in the room VERY fast so that ur point man isn't left in the room by himself (this will need to be trained on before it is mastered Wink )....This can be VERY difficult for people to accomplish if they haven't trained on it,..

taking all this into consideration, the ultimate decision comes to the EL and should be explained before the map begins.

Greetings!
I just didnt want to litter the Board with another topic "Tactical Question" so I post another here:
Yesterday, we were doing two man elements. In the SOPs it sais that #1 man is supposed to be Element Leader. Everybody told me i sure am wrong so i believe in the Server people got used to #2 man to be Element Leader because #1 couldnt handle all the stuff at a time. So, the question is whether the SOPs are still right but costume comes before textbook tactics or should I stick to what i read and thought to be right from the SOPs?
Farewell,
Caern

Nick, Ghost's answer is correct. In elements of more then 4 men 3rd bangs.

Caren, our SOP's doesnt describe a 2 man element. But It says something about a element with red and blue team. They work together as a element, however they can split up into to teams if needed.

3. Teams Positions Summary
2 man team: Point + EL, 2nd man + rear guard

You have to excuse me being that direct but here you go, there it is in your SOPs, Medic.
Question still valid Wink

@Nick: Its ELs choice...that the ultimative answer...but there is nothing wrong with 2nd or 3rd banging...it depends normaly on the situation and the way the element can stack up on a door....

@Caern: In a 2man team (or buddy-team) it is quite simple...I would take pointman as EL, because he can choose the way and make the decisions (like call for a bang) quite faster than 2nd, because 2nd must watch for the teams six. So it is correct that pointman is EL, because he has the best overview in the team of two, if second does his RG job good Wink

2man team is a special case..from 3 men up it is clear that point wont be EL, because you have then a point and a RG and EL is in the middle as 2nd.

In some cases I decide that I will be as EL 2nd. This could have 2 or 3 reasons: e.g. I wanna observe the guy in front of me (so training purpose) or I gave clear instructions for the whole map/ path..like "we bang every door" till v46...
hope that answered your question

I got it guys for my question.

Caern I think that for a 2 man element since it is not used a lot, we decide in the phase of planification who will be EL.

Hmm, usually the only times we employ two man elements on a regular basis is sniper/spotter or likewise pairing of specialist and backup man.

Well, there is another time but I save that one for the troopers hehe.

I think the "confussion" started by referring to RED Team/BLUE Team as a 2 man element...

Red and Blue teams make up a 4-5 man element.....
Upon EL Descretion...a 4-5 man element may be divided into Red Team/Blue Team to accomplish any Tactic..
example-Duel Entry into a large Room, or clearing a long hallway, or securing a "T" Junction...
These are Tactics Ideal for Red Team/Blue Team
