Ravenshield in English, please!

Greetings!

I wondered if there was a way to change the Language of Ravenshield sounds and speech to English. All I know is in ravenshield.ini the line Language=ger/pol/your language has to be altered to Language=eng. This results in the game not being abled to find the english sounds and prompting an error but keeping on running. Playing the game no commands, acknoledgements, ect can be heard.

Searching the Ravenshield folders, I encountered the folder Ravenshield/sounds in which there is located a folder 'ger' which contains the german sound files in the .SB0 format.

Well, I wondered if I exchanged both, ravenshield.ini and the folder Ravenshield/sounds/ger with the English equivalent, does it result in the English Version of the game?
If so, where can I obtain the english sounds folder?
->Yet Google didnt turn anthing up...

Many thanks!
Good day,

The games l10n features include both textual and audio data (e.g. game menus, hud overlays?, and sound bytes).

If you had all of the necessary l10n/i18n files it probably would work (imho) but the easiest way is just to buy an English (US or UK) edition of the game.

My game has several language specific .SB0 and .uax files in Raven Shield\Sounds\ and sub folders.

If you have all of the data files, if you had to you could always backup the sounds and then replace the german ones with english ones after renaming.

Spidey is right..Just changing the line that tells it what language...wont work. You do need the english files; which does probably mean all of the audio files for the game....lots

Much easier to purchase an En copy of the game.

I think (at least my old us english OEM copy) of RvS has the audio files needed for several languages (including German going by the suffixes) but grouped together with the other audio files not in sub folders (e.g. ger).

Not sure how they were done that way for release internationally but you might have the english files as well if you look deep enough.

Greetings!
Thanks for the fast replies!
But I do have some questions/comments:

-

If you had all of the necessary l10n/i18n files it probably would work (imho) but the easiest way is just to buy an English (US or UK) edition of the game.

What are the l10n/i18n files?

- Dallers, I do not live in the UK hence I have a German version of the game. But many thanks for the offer!

My version is the completely translated German version.
Although it has the needed English text files.
I searched every folder twice and I couldn't find anything like English sounds.

Well, the folder 'ger' is about 166mb big. If I had the English folder 'eng' and placed it into sounds and changed the ravenshield.ini it could possibly work, couldn't it? Problem is getting this folder and the data within it. Google didn't turn it up, so I wondered if anyone of you had the time to send it me directly?
Because it might be difficult to get the English version of the game...

Many thanks!

What are the l10n/i18n files?

l10n == localization, i18n = internationalization

basically files needed to make the game usable in different languages as opposed to only the one it was created in.

In my copy of the game sound files are laid out roughly like this:

sounds\
file.ext -> english version (default)
file_lang.ext -> localized version for lang

sounds\high (probably high quality)
weapon_fx.ext -> equipment sounds

sounds\low (probably low quality)
weapon_fx.ext -> equipment sounds

sounds\int (probably for i18n)
file.ext -> english version (default)
file_lang.ext -> localized version for lang

I assume the video files when the game plays (intro etc.) are in german? My version of the game is completely in english EXCEPT I don't have an 'eng' folder in the sounds folder.

Try backing up both the entire sounds + videos (if needed) folders then pasting the files from my folders. I have no sound mods or whatever so it should be fine, you can also try moving 'ger' out of the sounds folder, then try the game. Make sure to backup the affected folders in their entirety before attempting this.

I'll contact you over Xfire about the folders if you so desire. Wink

Knowing RvS, you might also want to keep the disk set within arms reach for awhile !!!
