If you could learn an instrument

If you could learn any musical instrument, what would it be?

For me, the Violin I think but I suppose that's a soft spot Beee

Considering the effort required it's probably a good thing that I grew an interest in computers instead of music lol.

I'd play the saxophone or the bassoon.

Infact, I just might.

I already play the piano and saxophone and a little bit of flute. It's fun to know how to play an instrument, but it is also a lot of tedious and often frustrating work to get there.

I don't know..

I have played violin since 3. grade.. (I'm going in 10. grade after the summer)
So I'm quite tired of violins. And all classic instruments..

I play the guitar, but I wanted to learn either clarinet or trumpet. The problem with instruments is their cost. not only materially, although they are badly expansive, you have to invest much time to them. so once i have both, time AND money ill have to make the decision.

Well i used to do vocals in a band for some years, but I realised that i cannot sing.

But I have a talent for drums... i drum on anything I can find when listening to good music.

So i guess I wanna learn how to play drums

I second it.

Definitely the drums. Also could do with being quite a bit better at the instruments I already play. But drums are cool.

I play a great deal of Piano on an acoustic.

My favorite kind of music to play is Jazz and Blues riff's and so on, and I'd say I'm quite good at it. Dirol

Hmm, difficult decision, I like pretty much everything when it comes to genres. I would love to be able to sing, after all the voice is an instrument Biggrin
I do love the big bang sound, that Frank Sinatra uses often, so lets say the Trumpet.

I'd like to learn Saxophone again. I gave it up in High School and then my sister picked it up. Then it broke and the band director broke it more. I'm pissed.

"An Introduction To Playing Boogie, Blues & Jazz by Denes Agay" is what I generally use for Blues songs, however the real fun comes when you come up with a good 12 bars Blues pattern, and start experimenting with that.

For those who don't know what a 12 bars Blues pattern is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_bar_blues

As the article mentions, C, D, F & G are common chords for Blues & Jazz and sound very nice together, keeping in mind that you use a Major Tonic, Minor might work with other Minor chords but it's best not to mix Major and Minor. Wink

If you want an electronic guide I'd suggest searching the google. Dirol
