Ah, great! It really deserves it! Jazz is great! Both in Big Band and in Combo! The Girl from Ipanema is a very nice song, I love the Sax solo!
And Bill Evans is awesome! His Basses are so good! In one of the vids he actually sings along the solo he plays Wink
8O And its very nice, that in almost every song has parts for each instrument! Or better little solos.

My favourite jazz componist is Glenn Miller, i love clarinets, maybe thats why;)

The great thing about Bill Evans is the independence between his hands: he has a rythmically quite developed accompanyment that just keeps going no matter what he improvises on it!

The thing with the other instruments is simple: he just doesn't take up all the space and lets everybody do their improvisation.
The score to that song has about 24 measures, so most of those recording are improvisations on the chord scheme.

I have a few jazz fusion albums, like Acoustic Ladyland and stuff. I'm guessing that's probably not your thing though.

Re: The Jazz side of things.

I like jazz. Although I don't own lots of jazz-albums.

Here are some clips/artists you might find interesting (not exactly classic jazz though).

Pat Metheny:

Mulatu Astatke (funky ethiopian jazz):

Yeah, bossa nova. Antonio Carlos Jobim should be mentioned then.
He is the composer of "The Girl From Ipanema" and "One Note Samba", which are perhaps the most famous bossa nova songs.

Here are two legendary clips where he performs with Andy Williams and Frank Sinatra.

With Andy Williams:

Frank Sinatra and Jobim (medley, Girl From Ipanema at the end):

Jobim's songs are definitely brilliant, I sometimes play them with my dad. Personally, I prefer Desafinado, and more specifically in the album which Stan Getz recorded with Jobim and Gilberto.
