Due to the Current climate in the Middle East, i t is neccessary for SAS_LtCol_Shield to spend less and less time doing what he loves the most, and that is guiding us through this virtual minefield.
Therefore i would like you to put your hands together for our new (well not quite new)Commanding Officer..

I thank you all for the warm and fuzzy salutations. It's not the best way to become the CO, but Shield's situation is far from ideal. He deeply regrets not being around as much as he would like, but real life has a perpetual knock at his front door.
I think he is particularly proud of how this team has persisted and thrived due to the strength and character of its entire membership.
Only great things can come from a group that consists of only people of great integrity.
We have accomplished much over the years. Everything you see before you has evolved from an earlier form and we are improved for the evolution. While that list of accomplishments is long and impressive, we still have much on the horizon for us to approach and bring into focus.
It always comes down to the people. This is the best group around.
As anyone who has read and taken to heart my signature lines over the years, they have been about people recruitment, training and development of leadership potential. As we go forward on our continued course of greatness, remember that it will always be about the people.
You, as a member of the 22nd Elite Virtual Regiment, have an obligation to those who came before you to do your best. They deserve nothing less, and I will accept nothing less.
Go forth; recruit the best; train them hard; help them reach their leadership potential. Ultimately, people don't follow the rank, they follow the person. Be someone that people will want to follow.
Shield has been one such individual. I'm proud to know him; to have helped develop him; to lead him and be lead by him.
Best of Luck to Shield and Best of Luck to our 22nd EVR.
ps-Did you happen to notice that this was my 22nd hundred post? Destiny maybe?? Too meaningful a number to this team to be blind coincidence, I think.

Congratulations Sir
I was touched by these words and appreciate them being used to be a moderator in a huge forum (~80000 registered users).
All of us here have this little shining star and yours shines even brighter now Random.
Gone but not forgotten.
Congrats Random, its unfortunate situation as you said, but onwards and upwards, Shield would want that for the clan.
And about you said about following the people, not a rank, I %100 wholheartledy agree with that. For without all the great people around I wouldn't of been here for a year trying to get into SAS!
All the best
Jonsi
Congratulations Random, first drink this night is on you!
You can close your eyes for things you don't want to see, but you can't close your heart for things you don't want to feel
Congratulations Random!!!
Congrats SIR !
Shield,
You've been a great example for those who you've been around. For me, I've always appreciated that you were as far up front as possible, very much a CO that people could see and talk to, a man of the people so to speak.
I remember the first time I met a young officer named Shield and tried calling him Sir, and the skill and dedication he displayed with a Mac 9/11 in circumstances where I would have wrote off the weapon as useless. After that it was always just 'Shield' and a fine shot at that who took some time to teach us young Troopers a thing or two about Hostage Rescue tactics.
Some of the younger members might not have seen how things were when you became CO, but I remember them clearly. Your dedication and guidance serves as an example for us all. Thank you Shield for doing all that you have done, even to the point of caring about [SAS]'s fate while your on a tour of duty.
Stay safe Shield, remember Speed, Aggression, Surprise, hope to see you when you return home
Random,
You were the commanding officer of this fine group when I first found [SAS], or perhaps it found me in a way. You've been an integer part of SAS for years, through the good and the bad times a like but always here, always helping us to move in the right direction.
I'm proud to have been apart of this team while it was under your leadership as LtCol, and I am proud to see it again. Because I know if I ever had to be involved in a real tactical engagement, you're one of the few I'd hope to see as EL.
There are 5 people who really played a large part in my decision to join this team: Adze, Coop, Rand, Random, and last alphabetically but no where near least, Wiz.
Congratulations Random and thank you.
(
== old net'ism for a salute)Congrats Random
Its gonna be a pleasure serving under you
SAS_Random back in his old shoes.
Congratulations to you Sir. I am confident you will keep doing a great job as the current official Commanding Officer of this team.
You are the most experienced operative in this clan, and you know SAS inside and out, like your own backpocket. Thats an extremely important and good quality for a CO to have.
Sorry I wasn`t able to respond to you on xfire earlier, but I will work much harder now that I have your eyes on my neck hehe.
Again, good job and a thousand beers on me!
The promotion party will be held at the Bay Horse Inn, 236 Kings Acre Road, Hereford, this saturday at 1900Z, right after indoctrination at the officers mess.
Congratz Random you deserve it I think you should have velcro tags lol
Congratulations to you ACO, I'm proud serving under your command now that you have been promotet to CO SIR

Looked at this post last after seeing all of the other recent promotions. This may be the most surprising (to me anyway) and certainly is the biggest of them all. A well deserved congratulations Random, I can't even imagine the dedication and work it must have taken to get there.
Good Job Random glad to see this and hope to accually be under your command.
When I have your back... I am the one you look to for help
