Today the sad news was announced that Colin McRae has been fatally injured in a helicopter crash, close to his home. Scotland
He was travelling with his Son, a friend and his Son's best friend.
A Sad day for motorsport in general. I once had the pleasure of meeting him, and on another occasion i was inches from being run-over by his Subaru at a service point on a rally.
A truly talented sportsman, and all-round...nice guy.

Very sad.... That's not a nice way to check out.
I take it they've confirmed it ?
well the CAA requires you to submit itineries, also they know who the chopper was registered to.
Unfortunatly formal identification of the occupants is not possible. Due to a heavy air-crash and intense fire.

A sad day for the sport, and all my thoughts goes to his family and friends.
He will always keep on living as a good memory as a good sportsman
Very sad indeed. Horrible accident. Colin McRae was/is a true rally legend. I liked watching him drive in the rallies when he was active. He had the most aggressive driving style. How he used to "throw" the car early into a turn etc.
I agree with you Leon,he had ..class.
And did you know he won the race of champions before, and beat michael schumacker amongst others, he was scheduled to compete in december with David Coulthard too.
