Spidey's dream child

Thinkpad R61

Customised to 1024MB of RAM, decent Core 2 Duo, and a few other tweaks for just under $1,000

I wish I could afford that baby.... lol

pretty nice, though i wouldn't bet too much that SWAT4 can run smoothly on it. stupid video-cards, why can't they put a normal one in every laptop?

I doubt I'd even try SWAT4 on most laptops, don't care much for gaming via laptop ether.

For me, a laptop is like a mobile workstation, got my editor, compilers, interrupters, debuggers, profilers, browsers, documentation, music! and source code xD

My current laptop has a very crappy card, Xpress-200/300 Mobile. I once tried Raven Shield on it before I removed Windows XP, game ran fine but looked like a cartoon. Under PC-BSD the graphic card performs even worse due to ATI's drivers but it's able to run Doom I/II fine with a modernised engine for when I get bored Smile

Yep, I really like the SLI computers that have 2 video card slots. I was reading an AMD article; by 2009, they will be selling octal-core processors.

I play Swat 4 TSS on my laptop all the time. In fact, everytime im on. I have no problems running it even with the graphics on optimal settings. Thats the power of the Inspiron 1705. I love it.

The problem is, Games generate severe heat in gfx cards and Cpu's. A Laptop cannot dissipate that heat as quickly as a tower,

If you play games on your laptop, make sure you clean the vents regularly, better still place your laptop on a metal plate (sounds stupid, but the laws of physics will tell you why this is sensible)

For any Pc...Heat is your biggest danger
