So basically they want to use an H&K Version of the M4/M16 weapons.

I've heard the Army is t esting a few.. but know oh most nothing about the weapon other then it has several variants with 10" to 20" barrels.

I'm supprised they didn't go with the HK 417 and keep the 7.62mm round. Oh well...

Awesome! The HK416 seems like a very good choice. But I've heard some people claim that 7,62mm is the best caliber for the norwegian terrain and bla bla, and that 5,56mm can't kill with one shot etc. They probably love their G3s too much :).

Hey so is the 12.7mm Round and M2 KATTAY.50 -> Designed 1921 and she still packs a punch. Early US aircraft used that sucker for dog fighting hehehe.

While I wouldn't think It'd do much good to put the G3 on Full Auto but on Semi the 7.62x51mm NATO round should be worth a darn for Range work with a decent rifle. Especially if you consider that the M21, M24, M40, and L96A1 all fire 7.62mm Rounds Smile

5.56x45mm may be the 'big thing' at the moment but Ma Deuce still holds the Straight flush Wink

PS: KATTAY.50 = Kills Any Thing That Ales You Dot Fifty Blum 3

Its not all about punch Spidey. 12.7 / 50. is ofcourse good in certain situations but would you have that caliber in your primary assault rifle? Todays soldier needs rapid firing, low recoil and good accuracy in their rifle. The HK416 carbine with the 14.5 inch (368mm) barrel is almost just as accurate and has the same effective killing range as the G3 7.62 ,because of the weapons design, amongst others. Im not saying 7.62mm is a bad caliber but 5.56 is often much more versatile. Smile

And btw. did you know that 80 % of outdoor/field contacts happens between 100 - 300 yards? A distance 5.56 easily handles.

the 416 is considered the be the best carbine made currently in the world and so with that and the fact that the US thinks its not worth the money to start replacing the older models we have which would save money in the long term you can go somewhere not so nice and very hot you lucky not such a nice word meaning born to an unmarried woman, AHHHH!

better but still upset

Yeah I know, although in the old days it wouldn't be un usual to find a rifle with adjustable sights that could go > 2200 Metre.

Generally, both online and in Engineering style. I tend to favor some thing accurate, powerful, and quick striking. Odds are if I was stuck in the Vietnam War. I'd rather have an M14 or a nice Shotgun and a lot of ammo instead of the early M-16 (although its one of my favorite designs). The 9mm MP5 gets the job done but I'd prefer the more powerful 10mm or 40 Calibur cartridge for stopping power.

SS109 would be easier to lug around a Jungle or Desert I'm sure....

but I guess its like comparing the M16A2 and the AKM. The M16 has faness, the AKM has brute force. I think the 7.62x51mm NATO was trying to clone the Russian 7.62x39mm and the Russian 5.45x39mm Round was trying to duplicate the NATO 5.56x45mm Round. Its funny really.

Seems to be a very handy weapon. For open combat as well as inside combat.
Is there possibility to mod it into Ravenshield?

modeling,coding,animating,skinning,etc

Modeling - Fine, Coding - I dont know what to do, Animating - I dont know what to do, Skinning - hard way but possible; ect - I dont know what to do...
so I would need some tutorials. at the moment I am busy with learning how to map with the Unreal Editor. After that we'll see Wink

Yes right, the skinning is not a problem, but the mapping of a model prior to enable skinning is my problem Wink

i don't think the coding will form much of a problem cause you just have to copy the parameters of the an original weapon and change them

Raven Shield was written largly in C++ and some Unreal Script as far as I can tell.

No source code is available so I say. 'Why bother' -> Especially considering the build of Unreal Ed you get in RvS. SUCKS in SWAT4 the Unreal Editor is not 'nice' but its not as 'hostile' to game modifications as the one in RvS IMHO.

One of the main reasons why 5.56 is trendy at the moment, is logistics. Packing 7.62 is heavy and space consuming. 5.56 gives you more rounds on each supply vehicle.

I have already preordered a short-barreled version with retractable stock to substitute my MP5. Beware!
