What is the best way to train ones self to get up _early_ consistantly ?

Just switching the alarm off and going back to bed is to fine grained in my system to use the 'snooze' button...

I use two alarms. The regular alarm clock + the cell phone alarm. I put the cell phone 3 meters from the bed, so I need to stand up to be able to stop it .

I use my willpower and stumble to the shower which has a thing for spraying me with ice-cold water and then slowly turn up the heat.

My wife gets up before me. She makes coffee and brings it to me in bed. I drink my coffee, and then have no problem getting up. Biggrin Biggrin

And for a medical advise: get up at the same time every day, and get to bed at the same time every day.

The only problem with this is when its fun playing RvS

make sure your alarm is not within arms reach like at the foot of your bed or across the room, i personally use to sleep with my feet at the header cause thats where my alarm was. in college i had it on my desk on the other side of the room so you have to move around and accidentally fall asleep again

My alarm clock is about 2 meters from my head and like 2/3 a meter from the bed.

Its 90 decibals and I still go back to sleep lol.

I knew one person who would fall asleep cause the alarm clocks were not loud enough... so he got one of those Light Timer things... the one that turns lights on at certain times... he plugged his stereo into it and put on some real loud music.. when that would turn on it would blast him out of bed...

Course not to sure your family will like that idea... unless your the last to get up....

Fraid this one is going to be a Will Power test just like Rasa said....

Sometimes, i just look forward to whats for breakfast. If its something i really enjoy eating, i usually wake up more easily.
For me, its Captain Crunch.

thats actually the problem  but its a good idea, the neighbores would kill me though Twisted

I usually skip breakfest 363++ days a year and roll out like 15-20min before its time to go to work.

The idea of starting to getting up every day, 'round 0600-0700 offers little to look foreward to. To put it simply. I have my coding, my schoolwork, my working for bills, and [SAS] and theres only two ways of cramming it. Two or Three Tier scheduling.

3tier
(like 0630 &>) morning/early afternoon - PT/walk/walk-dogs, work or coding if its a day off

(post 1200) afternoon-early evening - [SAS] and surfing

(post 1800) Eveing/Night - dinner and school

2tier
(0900 &>) moring/late afternoon - work, walk dogs, lunch, surfing, code when I can, [SAS]
evening/night - School and [SAS].

Needless to say there is a _reason_ I'm active between 1200-1800 local (pardoing walking the dogs). So the 2 tier plan kind of sucks because of ( work + family != coding ) and if I don't get some coding in I don't get my homework done because I end up digging into a file and forgetting the time.

So.... its ether get up at an ungodly hour to start my day. Some how convince my mother to let me go out for a walk without issue or do some morning pt, and to let me code in the mornings without bugging me. So I can at least code on days off and still do school 7 days a week without missing work. And some how _force_ my family to let me pull it off in the process.

Or live with the juggling act and being cuss'd at that I'm not doing enogh home work after working hours. And just 'sitting' at the computer all day. Although some of the shit I'm into, a professional would work 60+ hr a week at and I'm lucky to get a few hr a day that they let me consintrate long enough to work on my hobbies (sysadmin/programming).

[SAS] ain't going, work and school can't go and coding is getting stuffed in their if I gotta break some ones arm to do it lol.

I'm not a 'night owl' because I chose to be, I'm a night owl because its who I became. Normally I don't hit the hay till 0200-0400 with having to be at work by 0900-1000 depending on the job. So I'm not really partial to being up all night and hate having to be any more then I like early mornings. Instead of having to plan my day around my family I'd have to plan it around a schedule they might not like.

or they can stop complaning that they don't like the results from working 'roudn them !

forget what i said bout gettin to bed earlier ( didnt read ur schedule before posting ). One thing tho , lack of sleep is a serious threat to your health, u say ur goin to sleep at around 3 am and u want to get up at 7 ...

advice ( for what its worth) : dont cut on ur sleeping hours to have fun ...
the other way around is better .

MY GOD, ive usually ate lunch by that time spidey.

the best advice from the lot is...make sure that you physically have to get out of bed to turn the alarm off.

If I start getting up before 0700, I'll be a very annoyed spider if I have to stay up till my 'usual' hours.

im a night owl as well and knwo what you are going through once your get up there a bit more in age it will get easier as your body isnt one accustom and two not yet ready to do that form what ive learned. but if you think 0600 to 0700 is bad try 0400 every weekday

I know what you mean Shield, being a cilvian does have its perks about sleeping later hehe.

I've got one idea so far. Set the 90decibal in my room, set the mini-clock next to the microwave in the kitchen (other side of house) and set the clock in the living room (other side from there) all to go off at once or with a 5minute dither. Maybe it'd even set off the dogs barking lol.

Ether way, it'd be like a 10m walk to shut every thing down from clock #0-3 hehe.

could sound proof your room so you can go deaf as the alarms go off
