Do you use IRC?

Does any one use IRC ?

Its more or less the universal chat protocol used by billons of people, probably invented the concept of 'chat rooms'. I'm only two months older then when a very early IRC became available.

I'm normally on irc.freenode.net hanging around the #pcbsd, #vim, and #kde channels so I use it often. My favorite clients being Konversation, X-Chat, and ChatZilla.

Nope, I have never used it.

I thought IRC was only used for distribution of child pronography these days... Twisted

Never used it ... no idea what it is ... no idea whether I would like it ... I think I wouldn't even grasp this silly commands to change channels or something ... I really don't want to try either unless I have a good reason to do so ... and unless it turns out that some of my firend are keen on and doing something interesting on IRC I have no intention of ever trying it ...

and as a nice quote on bash says "IRC is a multiplayer version of notepad"

\"Virtue is its own reward.\"

I've heard that some people use IRC for ilicit file transfers but any one that does that is inviting a WinVirus32 or 3 Smile

In fact, I think we have or had an IRC channel. The details used to be in Noahs sig line. But I don't have the info in my client any more.
