Hoorah

Yup, found this on youtube the other day.

This drill instructor at MCRD San Diego gets up to his neck in this one, the recruit doesn't even know what hit him, and the shock on his face is enough to make you bust out laughing (but if I were him, I wouldnt)...

It's all talk these days, Drill sergeants can't hurt you like back in the good ol days. Oh boy, back in the day (dramatic flashback), you know they used to beat the hell outta guys who wouldn't aim their rifle down range. Nothing like a kick to the head to keep you in line.

I cannot fathom that the Lord has blessed us with logic and rationality and have us forgo their use.

Afaik Drill instructures we're prone to using "a slug in the guts" to get people ready for nam but now I think it's more then just aganst the regulations Smile

I wouldn't want to cross one from the USMC tho Marines know how to shoot good hehe

DS can still hit privates if the private is moving in manner that is unsafe and can cause injury to themselves or others. that one gets used

The biggest mistake ever made was to CIVILIZE combat training. Another fine example of rules made by people who have lost touch with the reality of WHY its done in the first place.

Being all cozy with a new recruit... will in no way prepare him mentally or physically for the utter harshness and brutality of combat. I not talking about the PUSH a button warfare... I am talking about down and dirty in the trenches kill a man while looking in his eyes type of combat.

There are very few things a person can do to prepare for an event like that... but removing the harsh treatment, when applied correctly and appropriately... was... in my opinion.. not the way to achieve greater levels of sucess.

Hey it could be worse I've heard in WWII Rangers had to like crawl through chicken/cow guts with machineguns firing over there heads. I don't remember the exact stomach turning disucssion but it was said to be worse then the real thing for the 75th Smile

You gotta look at it in perspective, because If they can't handle this kind of pressure, how the heck will they be able to last one day in a war zone?

Eagle you would have been on your back and screaming in the pain of an arm bar before you could even touch him...

Nothing against you, it's just that marine corps martial arts is a down, dirty, and damn effective form of combat, and I can almost guarantee you that that DI has a high ranking belt in it.

I went through Judo and Krav maga, both for exercise and extra training purposes, and both are intrical parts of MCMAP (a free Newcastle BA to the first to tell me what that stands for, no google and Langley nor Fox nor Rouge may answer... nothin personal fellas but youre the likely candidates to get it right)... I would've thought Marine Corps Martial Arts Program judging by the context and the lettering.

Krav maga is one art I'd like to see but wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of it.

I've been taking Krav Maga for about seven years now, already reached the top, and I don't have to wear some stupid belts who's only tactical value is to strangle someone, which I could do more effectively with my mits.

Marine combatatives are very basic and mostly consist of disarming techniques, other than that, it's just palms and kicks.

Btw, I take the good Krav Maga, the israeli style. Most other forms are goofy and would only get you mamed.

I cannot fathom that the Lord has blessed us with logic and rationality and have us forgo their use.

When you say the "top", what rank and level? Have you really made it as a Krav Maga Master in 7 years after training under a member of the council in Israel? Or... are you talking about the Fighter/Warrior/Operator levels?

I take Krav Maga with the IKMF, but only for about 3 years, and so far I've attained the level four warrior patch. You civs won't find that in your classes, there are special ranks for law enforcement, military personell, and other security service groups.

No, Merge, I attend classes in New York, (cough), Israel sends some Mussad guys up every once in a while and I attend annually, the also have a class I attend regularly in Cincinnati. SO, when I say top, I can't be top of anything really, but I perform better than most "maga masters" as I call them. And my Dad, who was a Ranger in the Army had attained a high rank in krav maga and I learn from him as well. Basically, I pity any foo who decides to attack me head on.

I've qualified with etremely high marks in weapon disarmament, specifically knives and rifles. Handguns not so much, as I ended up killing the guy accidentally on my first test.

Um...to elaborate, I didn't ACTUALLY kill someone, it was a hypothetical kill as they loaded the gun with powder bullets. So Merge, to answer your question, idk what I'd be qualified as. No one has ever told me as we rate with numbers/letters.

So, for anybody who wonders where I go when I disappear for a couple weeks, there you go. I treat my classes like Fast Ramadan, no one knows but you. Cept, now you know, the cats outta the bag.

I cannot fathom that the Lord has blessed us with logic and rationality and have us forgo their use.

If you're looking for something effective and fun, I'd recommend Judo to you... just find a place that teaches full-contact, not the half a**ed stuff.

There is a strong focus on grappling techniques and joint locks, as one of the main principles of Judo is to use the strength of your opponent against him (the bigger they are, the harder they fall). You will learn how to apply chokes, pressure points, joint locks, bars, and many other moves in Standing Combat and Ground Combat. Ground Combat is always taught secondarily, but is more fun imo.

Oddly enough, the translation of Judo means "the gentle way"... go figure that one out 8O

I took like a month of judo but realized it was ultimately ineffective when fighting, as almost all fights wind up in a goofy brawl. School yard rules are a thing of the past I guess. Hapkido on the other hand, never studied under a master, but it's more of a striking technique as far as I can tell. I'll stick to fighting dirty, for it is the Krav Maga way. This year I think they throw in a dark alley where you have to fight off like three guys...really looking forward to it.
Plus, Krav Maga doesn't require you to have to be able to high kick someone in the head, you just bring their head to you foot Smile Not to mention Krav Maga DOES require a certain amount of upper body strength, you should be able to overpower someones arm with both of yours, if the case doesn't fit that bill, just run or aim to cause a fatality, cuz thats one big SOB.

I cannot fathom that the Lord has blessed us with logic and rationality and have us forgo their use.

I like the concept of KM: No courtesy nods or courtesy ceremonies, just straight to the point. And why the heck slap once in your opponent's balls, when you can slap multiple times? It is a very effective way of self-defence... Blum 3
