New laptop (ASUS)

I'm thinking about getting a new laptop/notebook (whatever...portable PC) and it's gonna be ASUS... because i love ASUS :happy:. I've picked one out that I will probably buy;
ASUS A6Jc 15.4"WXGA, Geforce Go7300, Core Duo T2300, 512MB, 80GB, DVD±RW, WLAN/BT, XPH
10000 NOK / 1580$

Any input would be apreciated.

Looks good but I would go for a little more ram though, 512MB isnt much today.

Anyways.. want a suitcase? ... Blum 3

Yeah, an extra 512MB DDR2 SO-DIMM wouldn't hurt.

After having a chat with Recon about computers, I've reconsidered (>recon

You should push for at least 2 GB of ram. Costly for a laptop, but well forth the advantages it brings to the mix.

Laptops for gaming? I must be old fashioned :sick: .

I'd say go for 1 GB for a lappy that will see allot of games inless you plan on Vista or using the adaptor all the time.

My little Dixie darling usualy runs on her adaptor, but /w 512MB DDR my PC-BSD operating system runs quite fast, using WinXP on the machine one had to "kill" the preinstalled anti-virus/malware/spam scanner/stopper to get it livable. I don't like pre-installed programs that consume more memory then most computers have.

Gotta love laptops.

Well considering that the upcoming new OS's hitting the market come early 07, 1 gig of ram will barely meet needs for Direct X 10 gaming. (Most showcase machines of the latest flight simulator from MS uses over 2 GB of PC 3200 RAM atm.)

Any vista gaming rig I get will have a minimal of 3GB. Any other machine will run a real OS inless Vista some how kicks butt.

1 GB for Vista top grade, 2 GB for games
