America's Army SITREP over 2.7 weapon systems.

http://www.americasarmy.com/intel/fullstory.php?i=1601

I thought it be good to do a forum thread since a few of you have asked in game what is with AA's overmatch gametype in the upcoming (and seriously delayed) 2.7 patch to America's Army.

This year will mark the last two patches, 2.7 and 2.8, for the current edition of America's Army and 2.7 will finaly add a Co-Op gametype to offer players an alternative to fighting against other humans. I do not know as of yet if honor points will be awarded to players who go this path by completion of the objectives as a team, but if so then this is a welcomed change to the mix. If the AI in the co op side is anything like AA's Rise of a Soldier title for the Xbox, then it should be a bit of cheap free fun.

The page will cover the new weapons systems for the US forces, one of the new mission locations, and offers a flash video (sorry for those who hate flash :P) showing off the new materials.

Edit -

This is a SITrep over the AI coverage over the 2.7 package and also details the transition from the Unreal Tech Engine 2.0 to the 3.0 build to create the next America's Army squel.

Hmm sounds interesting maybe even worth checking out, since the game is free and should be very tactical.

9 player co-op isnt bad either.

Yeah, AA is very tatical if you get the right team of players. I'm just glad that a co op option is hitting the table because I've grown tired of dealing with bunny hopping retards and cheaters in the honor servers.

There is one thing I want to see the most, and that's a leadership system that's found in console verison of AA in the single player missions. The system will punish the lone wolfing player treating the game like CS by instant mission failiure if they're to far away from their CO in the field. You're given like 10 meters of slack but if you just run off and try to pick fights or do something against orders, you've got like 15 seconds to high tail it back to the CO. Of course this will suck in Overmatch mood if you get some mental giant as squad leader.. But it will be great for forcing team work.

I'll worry about it later, havn't played allot AAO since they dropped the Linux/Mac versions, as would rather play current AAO on PC-BSD using Linux compaitiblity not a Windows ABI (which I loath.)

Most unreal games seem to getalong well on Linux/BSD =S

I'm interested in Coop, I've got enough honor for SF inless it drops when your away now. So I don't care about getting honor points very much.

Well I can't wait for 2.7 and have gone back to playing AA: Rise of a Soldier for my Xbox as I wait for the patch release. It's a good thing that the beta testing is running a bit behind in my opinion (more bug squashing and all), but I hate the wait.
