I am the man of constant sorrow.
I don't think it will make a huge difference, you might get slightly better depth of colour giving you just a better looking picture, but I expect it will only be a small difference.
More important if you are getting a flat-panel monitor, is the response time. Don't get a slower response time than 8ms, for gaming this is fairly important.
Oh, and hi by the way.
If your after a monitor I'd say check your needs, and include a really good response time if you plan on LCD.
They tell me CRT (Normal) monitors are better for gaming then LCD's but by how much is dependant on your monitors I belive.
i have a basic 17" monitor with the contrast and brightness all the way up. i have no complaints with it even if the black isnt perfect, its close enough and im use to it

I suppose this depends on personal taste. But recently my 17" flatscreen CRT monitor started to go on the fritz, so I picked up an Acer 17" LCD. I could not stand it, it could not display a true black. One way I was testing it was on the night meatpacking plant mission in RvS. I did'nt even have to use nightvision in dark rooms and these areas seemed smokey. I thought it looked terrible.
I've learned subsequently that this is very important for gaming and watching DvD movies if you want good visuals. I guess whether you would see the difference depends on what kind of monitor you have now and how it is setup. And what kind of budget you have.

That sounds like when I went from a 15 Inch CRT to a 19 inch Digital CRT, couldn't see any thing in the dark /w the good monitor; never needed NVG's in my life on the old one lol
Yeah, and like I said thats probobly as much a matter of personal preference as anything. I know some people like to just crank their brightness up. So they probobly would'nt care. Personally, I really like the true blackness.
Guess it all comes down to what you have now, whether the above is paticularly important to you, and how much leeway your budget gives you.

Actually I did crank up my gamma (RvS) a few tenths so I could still see my MP5 Barrel when I'm duck walding trew the stalls in MeatPackingPlant.
But it still calls for NVG's!
