GRAW Demo Available

The demo is available from THIS LINK. I downloaded from THIS ONE at over 2 MB per second (yes that's megabytes not megabits) so it is a good server.

First impressions then ... first observation is I cannot play the game on my computer, apparently it is not good enough. (P4 2.8Ghz HT, nVidia GeForce FX 5200, 1GB RAM)

However, I did get some screenshots for you, which you can download HERE.

When you start campaign mode you get this little tutorial thing. You will notice in the multiplayer screen it only has Local servers, no option for connecting to UBI or anything - not certain if this is just me or is by design. You'll see the server setup screen, minimal options are available, and only Coop mode is available - no adver.

I cannot comment on the gamplay because I can't play it, I get about 1 frame every 3 seconds (literally) and the mission begins in a helicopter. That's all I know.

Re: GRAW Deno Available

The games all right for a demo, like the tango AI & shooting system (see other topic on graw.)

But that video card of yours is starting to go the way of my GeForce Ti 4200 & Raedon 9800 XT cards. most newer games are going to require at lest an entry level GF6 card or eqivulent.

yeh i got that Heli insertion lasting for 30mins, i couldve actually flown to Paris in that time.
Deffo not a game for clan adoption. Unless GCHQ agrees to distribute the Paypal funding to providing us all with super computers.
I turned everything right down to the bare minimum, i turned every conceivable process off possible, i even turned the sound off.
VERY resource hungry.

How can they possibly sell any copies of this game if it runs like that? It's just not gonna happen when you limit the number of people who have the necessary hardware to about 1% of computer owners - if that.

most "hard core" gamers are going to upgrade if they can't play the game they want; those that just want to play it are going to buy another product or upgrade.

Ether way, the game companies and hardware manufactures still make money.

And the poor people that still have 256MB Ram, 1.5Ghz CPU, & 32-64MB Gfx cards are just plain ol'SOL on gaming in the future.

i got half a gig of RAM and a 256 card and i still cant play it. yet BF2,SWAT4 are perfect, even LD was bearable. TR is the most resource hungry ive seen yet and ive managed to get that running sweet. Another UBI cock up

You will still be able to play the game on release but dont expect it to look as good as those screenshots. I havent tried it yet but I will soon.

I think very very few people would be prepared to upgrade a computer purely for the sake of playing a single game. Especially when, as Wiz says, almost all other modern games run near perfectly. I know for sure that if it doesn't work on my computer, I'm not gonna run down to the shops and drop £200 on upgrades just to make my computer that fraction faster to iron out the jitters.

And what's more, if they can't even make a demo that accurately reflects how the game will be on final release, then what's the point at all? I almost always get a demo to see how it runs on my computer, and if it runs like crap, then I just won't get it.

Loaded it on saturday. Not to bad! Will take a bit to get use to it. Graphics are nice as are the weapon choices. Sweet sniper rifle. Need a manual!

If it runs well on your machine Cent, what are the specs of your machine?

To be honest guys if you caint run it your well behind. We are into the next generation now guys and SWAT 4 was the tip. Demos are never configured to run on any ones machine but the top graphics cards. The game will work on release.

Python is right, sometimes the Demos are resource hungry. They probably will be tweaking the game a little so it can run on slower machines.

I have MOH Pacific Assault, and I remember the demo being slow on my machine. EA released a press notice saying they were still in process of tweaking the game to run on slower machines. I bought retail and everything was smooth gameplay few months later.

Lets hope UBI is smart and same scenario goes for GRAW.

The release is 3rd may, so i dont think they will be able to fix anything.

I read the GRAW website a little more carefully for the minimum specs which it gives as:

Pentium IV 2Ghz
Windows XP/2000
NVIDIA® GeForce™ 6/7 or ATI® Radeon® 9600-9800/X
1024 MB RAM and 5 GB of hard drive space

That's a pretty high spec, I'm surprised they couldn't make it work at least tolerably on lower machines.

I'm don't know much about graphics cards. I have a ATI Radeon x800 pro 256mb DDR ram. Might this be ok for the game?

I have already posted these details on the chitchat forum James for a couple of days ago, you can also see if your graphiccard is outdated.

I don't know about ATI cards, but your going to start needing a P4, gig of ram, and a GF6 equal or better of a computer to play them.

And dual ATI whats it's that cost ubar lats but beats GF7800s in SLI to run them at high gfx.

This is a bloomin good game I feel, extremely realistic. You can lean and shoot when your in iron sights and scoped like. Enemies move in the distance so realisticly. Ive made a video at 1:42 but its 250mb. Anyone whoes interested iell post it up. AI teammates are a bit naff mostly but its good and hard to like RVS. It also lives up to the Ghost Recon name too. Oh and the sound of gunfire and explosions are great.

Its a pity its very demanding. Blum 3

Good maybe it won't get some near slowdown when I run medium, but I'll still probably get slow mo if I do max allowed + 1600x1200x32@75hz when the action gets rough.

If theres a card that can do both max gfx on current games and do it on 1600x1200 smoothly I'd looooooooooovvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeee to half it;)

I'm impressed

I just downloaded it and it runs fine on my computer, with everything on medium settings. I even have high dynamic lighting, high res shadows, and high effects levels turned on. I get no slowdown at all until there is a massive explosion on screen (i.e. blowing up an oil tanker), and even then it's barely noticeable. My only real complaints with the game demo insofar are that the Ghost's AI is a little rugged, and I can only get the lag-free gameplay on 800x600 with a 75hz RR. I tried pushing for 1024x768 but i couldnt even load the chopper ride sequence without crashing the game. Im hoping that can be attributed to the demo problems everyone's been having, and that the final release will be smooth and streamlined. Other than these issues, which are minor, the game is really fantastic, with great graphics, realistic weaponry, and some badass enemy AI to match. I have been outflanked and outshot in this game quite a few times already, and I cant wait to see what goodies await in the full version.

By the way, for anyone who is interested. I'm running the demo on:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ ~(2.4GHz)
768 MB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 6600GT 256MB AGP 8x
Acer 21" Flat Panel DVI/LCD Monitor

Well yes Wiz, that makes my SWAT 4 TSS problem even more strange. I can join servers in GRAW w/o problems too.
