Creating a cascading start menu

I just reinstalled XP and am having trouble adding a new menu to the start menu.

I'm running XP with the classic visuals (but not classic start menu), and before I reinstalled I had a GAMES menu on the left side of the start menu at the top where I moved all my game folders from the All Programs area.

Problem is I have NO idea how I did it before. If I click and drag a GAMES directory over there, it just seems to "pin" a shortcut there. It does'nt cascade when I put my mouse over it, you have to click it and it just opens a new window with the contents, I don't want that. I also tried using Windows Explorer and going into C:\Documents and Settings\ and into the Default Use and All Users directories and tried to add the directory there. But even if I add it under Start Menu, it shows ups inside the All Programs menu.

Does anyone here know how to create a cascading menu on the left side of the start menu??

on some items if you right click there is an option 'pin to start menu'

Try that

I think I can pin stuff to the start menu simply by dragging. I can do that with folders, but they won't work as menus on the left side like I'd like.

Hehe, most things in XP dont work as people would like, the only bonus ive found with XP is that u can tailor it to your own needs. Meaning theres lots that you can turn off.

The thing that confuses me if I had it setup this way before I reinstalled. I just don't know how to do it again.

Dragging it there creates a shortcut I think.

I know how to do it with the classic style start menu, but I never could get it to work with the normal XP styled one - even after using the power tools.

Yes, it's easy with the classic start menu. I wonder if my doing it before was just a bug or something lol.
