Eat this

there is a corridor that leads into an empty room. the room is completely empty
except for a lamp in one of the corners. on the other side of the corridor are 3
switches. you know that one of them turns on the lamp, the other 2 dont do anything.
you can play around with the switches turning each of them on and off as much as you like,
then you can go into the room 1 (one!!) time to check whether the lamp is on or off
(there is a door so you cant know without entering the room).
leaving the room, you have to know which of the 3 switches works and which 2 dont.

Yeah I heard that one before. It's a good puzzle. I won't say the answer, see if you can work it out everybody.

I think I worked it out. Does it have anything to do with warmth?

Turn 2 of the switches on, see if the light is on or off.
1. If it is not on, then you know the switch you didn't use is the one.
2. If it is on, then go back and flip one of the switches off,
a. if the light goes out, you know it was that switch
b. if the light doesnt go out, then you know it was the other switch

Assuming you get to leave the door open

Ok

Then, turn switch 1 for 30 secs, turn it off, turn switch 2 on for 30 secs, turn it off, then turn switch 3 on for 30 secs, turn it off, go into the room.

1.If the bulb is cold, switch 1
2.If the bulb is luke warm, switch 2
3.Iif the bulb is hot, switch 3

I would look at the bottom of the door to see if they light is on. Surely it will shine through bottom.

I would. Check if all are one side up/down or if some are up/down. (Some idot down in georgia desided half the switchs down means there on, and the other half being up means those are on - while in florida they are wired one way = on, other off accross a house)

Check the room - make sure the lamp is off to start with. If all are up or down flick 1, try a string to each of the other and flick them up. Go into to room. If it's dark, pull one string, if it's off still pull the other and bingo Smile

I would do it similar to that. Turn switch 1 on for 1 minute, then turn switch 2 on. then go check.

If switch 1 is right the bulb is hot and not on. If switch 2 is right the bulb is on. If switch 3 is right the bulb is cold.

So yer i am stealing rands idea and improving it.

Of course you could just open the door look in, but not enter the room as many times as you want. That way you dont burn your hand.

Sounds like a winner to me, Relish.

Regardless of the answer. Biggrin

turn on the first light switch and wait a few minutes, then turn it off and switch on the second light switch and run into the next room.

If the light is off and feels warm its the first switch
If the light is on its the second switch
If the light is off and feels cold its the third switch

Well I can´t say this will happen IRL lol
