Hello Mates,
I have never been an RVS guy, (SWAT4 here), but now that it's Steam Summer Sale and Rainbow Six Siege is out (about which I have heard a lot of good things), I'm wondering whether or not to get it.
Does anyone of you have it? Will anyone get it? Do you have opinions to share?
Is the Co-Op as good as I hope it is? (on a par with Swat4)? I'm totally ok with human coop vs AI, I love that. I don't need PVP.
I don't have a lot of free time as of now, so if I can't find enough playmates, the game is not worth it.
Looking forward to your opinions.

Hey Ninja, long time no see!
I'm pretty pessimistic about Siege and the way it's so PVP oriented (weapon skins for "bling"? ugh no).
I've heard that Bobby did like the co-op terrorist hunt missions but the suicide bombers really put a dampner on the whole experience. He can probably fill alot of the blanks here.

Like Master said, the suicide bombers are nothing more than annoying when playing CQB.The coop is overall fun, but finding a coop game now might be difficult because, like the previous post said, it's really PVP oriented (though I'm a fan of the PVP in this game) and I myself haven't been able to find a coop match that's set on "realistic" in a while.
But the coop is definitely not on par with swat 4: it uses the operator system (so you can't choose your own loadout completely), weapons are restricted (I can't take a MP5 with an attacking SAS operator lol) and there are no doors.

hello again,
that sounds disappointing...
Thank you for your answers - maybe since the advent and overwhelming success of games like Battlefield, Call of Duty, Halo, etc there's not enough of a fanbase for tactical coop against AI left, I wonder?
I bought the game "Door Kickers" some time ago, which is an isometric breach&clear-experience with pre-planning and then watching how your planning plays out - not exactly what I was looking for.
I can't really warm up to insurgency - one of the game's selling points (the missing crosshair) is making me quite uncomfortable, as I don't like shooting from the hip or through iron sites in any game.
Maybe there will be something in the future for me.
Greetings

I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say a SWAT 5 would be an amazing release, provided it takes the best of SWAT 4, 3 and some cues(map planning?) from Raven Shield and leaves the COD stuff on the cutting room floor.

For Insurgency, the whole hip free-aim thing is more annoying than useful, in my opinion, as you can't precisely tell where you're aiming in cqb. Also, since the game originally stemmed from a Counter Strike mod, the community of course is as expected: co-op isn't, everyone moves on their own, trying to get the most kills in order to rack up a score that in the end means jack shit.
Nobody uses the leadership system, so there's no use in having a team leader, much less give orders, and since matchmaking is present, there's little semblance (if any) of "regulars" in the servers. Weapon sway sucks: it's a big, slow loop so it looks like your aim is veering to one side without it ever coming back, so you have to adjust your aim to compensate. Player slots are divided by classes by default, and each role has certain equipment they can use (this can be modified).
No doors, the usage of RPGs and their devastating effects on human players when used by bots... Overall, there is a whole lot of things that make Insurgency a bare-bones "tactical" experience at best, yet another Counter Strike on average.
Never seen anyone other than myself or Carter playing it recently, and I don't blame them. Though, to be fair, I've never seen anyone play any other of our official games other than ARMA III recently.
Rainbow 6 Siege is good reminds me alot of RVS.
