URGENT Plea for Donations

Dear Friends and Members of SAS Elite Virtual Regiment,

Here at SAS Elite Virtual Regiment we have been providing game servers for the communities of SWAT, RVS and now ARMA2 for over ten years now.

We have members of the highest regard in the games that we play. Since the slow decline of SWAT4 and RVS we have had a shortfall in the donations that we receive to keep our servers and forums running to keep the clan running for another ten years to become the longest running clan of all time.

This is why as Captain of SAS EVR i ask all of our friends and members to help SAS EVR by donating as much or as little as you can in order to keep our servers and forums serving you. Also, to keep SAS EVR running for another ten years. As we require $150USD in the next two weeks or SAS EVR will be forced to shut down the servers and forums.

Every little helps so if you do decide to help SAS EVR we thank you for your hard earned cash.

I am sorry to hear that servers and even the forums are on the verge of shutting down if no one donates. I always wanted to donate, however I always face one problem all of this time - The countries where I work don't support reliable donation methods and on top of that my agency is extremely strict about my online activity specially after recent events. I will gain full capability only when I return back to Russia which will be past at least 6+ months from now Sad

However, I did make suggestions several months back. I might as well do it again.

Being a professional designer, I could easily design some stuff that you could sell online. The designs would be spec-op, sas centered. For example, coffee mug designs, T-Shirts, etc. Many of you are from the states and could easily sell these thus bring in some of the required funds to run the servers.

I am not the only one who can do this, in fact I believe we have a good number of very talented individuals within SWAT 4 community as a whole. Should we all unite and agree, we can build a team that can help bring income and fund the clans in need.

I will try to solve my donation method issues, but in the meantime I strongly encourage anyone who can donate to do so and all who are interested in my suggestions to freely comment about it.

While publishers publish COD clones every month, games and communities like this are becoming an extreme rarity and on the way of slowly ceasing to exist. We can not let this happen.

In times where new projects are crowdsourced via kickstarters, crowdfunding existing developments (of any type) is gaining momentum. Several communities already do such a thing, some provide free Team Speak 3 servers to many clans from crowd funded resources (donations, sales, etc) yet there are websites (The Chive for example) that rely on T Shirt and ads sales to sustain its massive community. Major game franchises like BF3 and COD series are ripe with these as well.

Anyway, I know of several emergency solutions for your website (with zero data loss) for free (keeping the domain as well) and possible free server hosting for at least SWAT 4. Let's hope that sasclan.org doesn't need to go offline, ever. However, if you do need to know more about the backup solutions, send me a PM (You or WIZ, whoever is fully responsible with maintenance) and I will pass on the details.

P.S. I am sorry to hear that you've lost your job, GROM. Since I work in Central Europe for past 2 years I can help find you some listings feel free to send me a PM.

Thankyou to everyone that donated this month.
Your donation really does count whwn it comes to paying our bills.
Without your donations we would have to reduce our services, to almost zero.
So
Thankyou...and........

Keep it up..we do have monthly bills to pay.
