Hey there everyone.
It's a bit of a long story about how I ended up back here. Short version is I left 4 years ago because college was crazy and just found some of my paperwork from back in the day. Anyways, I was wondering if you guys still played on RVS. Also I now see ArmA II, I just bought it. Is it any good? I was hoping to get back playing with the group if you are still active, but I don't have TS access anymore and am not really sure if I should be seeking someone out on RVS or booting up A2 and searching there...
Anyways, hope to see you guys in-game at some point, and if someone is able to share the TS PW via PM that would be appreciated.
Take it easy.

Nice meeting you Chavez, glad to see you back around.
We are on RvS still (on paper, at least, guys that play the game are hard to come up with these days, so you'll find us more in the SWAT 4 servers), so you have a better chance of finding us there than in ARMA II, as we're still working up on the details to get it up and running.
ARMA II's a great outdoor combat simulator, to say the least. We're certainly having fun with it, whenever we get together.
I'm curious, did you buy just vanilla ARMA II, ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead, or both (Combined Operations)?
I got the package on STEAM so it is like 4 games. I have SWAT 4 somewhere. Although I might have to find a version that I can buy electronically. It's been years and I always thought SWAT 4 was inferior to SWAT 3. RVS beat them both in my mind.
*Also, pleasantly surprised to find my account still hanging around. Actually logged in first time. That never happens these days with so many passwords and usernames.*

Welcome back Chavez - MM did a good job answering your questions, so I will leave it at that.
See you on the servers!

A2 is a great game, especially with the right mods
Are you in the SAS xfire group? This way we could give you a quick heads-up whenever we play.
I don't think so. I think the last time I loaded up xFire we were just adding each other as necessary. So far I can't say I'm a huge fan of the new xfire. What mods are recommended and do they install or do the go in a folder?

Still here too !!!! But my passwords in armory is empty
RVS king thats 4 sure hope to see you all playing sometime.
Optimistic with applied sense of humor...
Agreed. I can't find my SWAT 4 (or for that matter SWAT 3 TGOTY) disks... Just re-ordered it but hope to get some guys on RVS at some point.

Yea, the new xfire is pretty messy and buggy. But nevertheless it's still a very good tool to organize spontaneous gaming.
Most important mods for A2 are ACE and ACRE. Best way to install them is probably PlayWithSix: http://play.withsix.com/download
Some nice tutorial which explain how to install, setup and use the mods: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCBC2EF50EABF9CE1
PS. If you need more detailed information, feel free to send me a PM
Well, it is the xfire beta release, it needs a whole lot of work.
Besides, it's not like the old, stable version isn't available for download.
I wouldn't have bothered purchasing SWAT 4 again. After all, its master server is down. But hey, that's just me.
Will those mods prevent me from being able to play with people that don't have them? If so, are they at least SAS EVR endorsed?

Hey Chavez, welcome back.
There's an alternative master server run by the guys over at markmod who have provided an alternative to the now defunct gamespy one. The client is available here: http://www.markmods.com/swat4serverlist/
Though joining by direct IP to servers works fine as well.
Also, the ACE and ACRE mods are basically *the* standard for enhanced tactical gameplay in Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead, so we certainly are planning on using them.

Thank you for the clarification Master. I will install immediately. Additionally, I see an ArmA server status window on the main page but it seems to be faulty. Would that server happen to be active? If so, is it Arma 2 or Operation Arrowhead?

No problem. I believe the A2: OA server is down at the moment, unfortunately.

I am excited to (hopefully) rejoin all of your on TS regardless of what game we are playing. In the meantime, well nothings perfect, but practice can get you close...

As Raptor said you may join the SAS Xfire group and also the AST Xfire group. The AST and SAS members get together often for rounds on A2, and if you are on the groups it will be easy to contact you when we do have rounds. I look forward to having rounds with you!

My word Chavez, has it really been 4 years....
Oh yeah spidey... College has come and passed and the days/weeks/months just seem to blend these days.
I stumbled across my old operations manuals and SC notes. I'm guessing they are outdated (my more than a little) regardless. Its sad to see that RVS has more or less disappeared. You still online a lot spidey?

I've been online a lot since dial up :-O. I rarely am found in the old stomping grounds however, usually on Steam playing whatever.
